MASSACHUSETTS CENTER FOR THE BOOK: STUDENT EDITION MASSACHUSETTS CENTER FOR THE BOOK: STUDENT EDITION

Barnstable Public Schools invites all students to participate in the

Massachusetts Center for the Book: Student Edition.

Each month, the Mass Center for the Book introduces a specific theme, allowing readers to select a title that sparks their interest within that category.

  • Monthly Reading Goals: Readers of all ages, with curated recommendations spanning from Picture Books through Young Adult literature, set a goal to read one book per month based on the designated theme.
  • Discovering Books: Participants can select titles using recommendations from local public libraries, bookstores, or official monthly reading lists.
  • Logging & Prizes: Log completed books online each month to share feedback and qualify for statewide prize drawings hosted by the Mass Center for the Book. CLICK HERE TO ENTER

Coming in November!

A school-based incentive program will be introduced! Students will be able to log their completed books directly at their school libraries to earn school reading rewards.

GUIDE TO BORROWING GUIDE TO BORROWING

Here are basic guidelines to ensure all students have a

joyful library experience!

  • Students may take books out from their school library to enjoy and share at home. Find a cozy reading spot to enjoy your book!

  • Kindergarten students keep their library books in their classrooms. All other grades take their library books home and return on their designated day.

  • Return your book on its designated day. This allows the next student waiting for that title to check it out!

  • Please be responsible with your library books. Please keep books safe from harm (no food, no pets, no rain!). Store your book in a special "library book spot."

  • The library is a shared school resource. If books are not returned to the library, the expectation is they will be replaced or paid for.

  • After 90 days, unreturned library books will be charged to students' MySchoolBucks accounts. Be sure you have a MySchoolBucks account. It can be found via the BPS webpage.

  • If you have any questions, please contact the K-7 Library Media Specialist- Deirdre Eldredge eldredge_deirdre@mybps.us
