Happy Sunday MRE Parents,

We are starting the seventh week of instruction of MP3 this week!! This week, we have a solid instructional week where our teachers will be teaching concepts that will be new to our scholars and reviewing concepts that we have identified as a weakness. We have also been learning about different historical figures as part of Black History Month. This Wednesday is Valentine's Day. We be having our Friendship Dance during PE times. It is an allowable treat day, but I ask of your assistance to make sure scholars bring their treat/cards in the morning. We will not be accepting any deliveries once school starts.

IMPORTANT

Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our attendance goal for this week. We did see a dip compared to what we have been experiencing the last three weeks. We have set a new goal for MP3 (96%). I have challenged our scholars in being in school by providing a Pizza Party incentive to the whole grade level that reaches the 96% attendance goal. Please help them to get this incentive. Last week, our 3rd Grade scholars met the challenge. I understand our scholars may get ill but if they are healthy, please send them to school all day, every day. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Parents,

We have been experiencing and increase in the number of students that are seen in the MRE Clinic due to illness and injury. In doing so, we are also experiencing visits from students that have accumulated more than 10 nurse visits and nothing is wrong with them. This causes for them to lose a considerable amount of instructional time, especially if the clinic is full. Please talk to your child to only request to see our nurses only when it is absolutely necessary. We are experiencing an increase in students with flu/cold type symptoms. If your child is perfectly fine and are waiting for an extended period of time at the nurse's office, then their chances of getting exposed may increase.

We have run a report of those students that are frequently in the nurse's office and administration will be contacting you to set up plan moving forward.

Please use link below for STAAR resources for your child, such as online practice and STAAR released tests. You can also view your child's STAAR history and additional resources based on their strengths or weaknesses. Please contact Ms. Sandra Aguirre, MRE Asst. Principal and Campus Testing Coordinator, for additional questions/assistance.

Progress Reports are available this week. As a reminder you can also access through your Skyward App. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions/concerns in regards to your child's grades.

Car Pick Up Signs/Cards are required for the Pick Up Lane. Please ask your teacher if you don't have one. For cards, have them available so we can expedite your pick up. For signs, please place your sign on the passenger side so we may see it at a distance to ensure your child is ready for you when you pull up to the assigned pick up.

VERY IMPORTANT: If your child is scheduled to ride the bus, please read the following:

• Verify you child has a bus ID
• If no bus ID, you must stop by the campus to obtain one ($5 replacement fee if you have misplaced it or has damage)
• If using transportation services, please stop by the campus to sign consent to allow your child to be dismissed by boarding the bus.

The Ride 360 app used by the Socorro Independent School District to provide families with bus route information is updating to the My Ride K-12 app by May 1, 2024.

This new app provides the same powerful functionality as the Ride 360 app but is built using more modern technology. This change will allow users to access new features and updates more quickly, ensuring the app continues to meet their needs.

Parents can download the new Traversa My Ride K-12 app today on the App store or get it on Google Play. Users can log in to the My Ride K-12 app using the same credentials they use in Ride 360.

All app users will need to download the new app before the Ride 360 app is retired on May 1, 2024.

The Socorro Independent School District is implementing Skyward Family Access for parents and students for the 2023-2024 school year. Skyward Family Access will replace the Tyler360 portal.

Skyward Family Access is an easy-to-use website that allows parents and guardians to access information about their students, such as attendance, grades, assignments, schedules, progress reports and report cards. Skyward Family Access is available on any device with an internet connection.

Skyward Family Access is now available to students and parents. Click here to learn more about how to use Skyward. Information also will be shared with parents via email.

SISD appreciates parents’ patience and understanding during the transition to Skyward Family Access.

We know our students will become ill throughout the year. For this reason, it is important that when our students are healthy, they are attending school every day. Lost instructional days do not only impact your child's education but also the education and dynamics of all students in the classroom. For this reason, MAKING EVERYDAY Count is critical for the success of your child and all students on campus.

The state of Texas holds administrators and parents accountable for attending school daily. At 5 absences or tardies, you will be asked to have a meeting with administration to make sure we are working together to educate your child. Please help support our teachers by bringing in your children ready to learn. We thank you for making attendance a priority.

Early pick-ups

• Early pick-ups are not processed 30 min before dismissal.
• PK/Kinder: No later than 2:15
• 1st-5th : No later than 2:45

Systems are working and this week we will begin to work on arriving on time. Students' tardiness will go into effect soon. Note the following

• Doors will open at 7:00 am
• First Bell will ring at 7:30 am
• Tardy Bell will ring at 7:45
• Breakfast in the classroom will be served from 7:30-7:45 am
• Instruction will start promptly at 7:30 AM

There is no traffic on Nonap by 7:45 AM. Please plan accordingly so your child can be in school on time. Thank you for your assistance!

Scholars who are in school ALL week, Monday throught Friday, earn a FREE DRESS PASS that they could use the following Monday
