Dear Talbot Families

Happy Spring! It is finally beginning to feel like Winter is over and warmer days are ahead! As I write this, the sun is shining outside my office window and I can see crocuses in bloom! Soon the tents will be put back up as classrooms begin to spend more time learning and eating outside.

Camp Fair

Do you want to enroll your child in a PPS-sponsored summer camp? Visit the Camp Fair at East End School Community School, 195 North St on April 9th from 1pm to 4pm to learn about the camps, and sign your child up. Interpreters will be on-site to help with your language needs. For more information, visit

Student Placement Process

Student placement for next year is a thoughtful process that begins in May and involves input from classroom teachers, other school staff, and administrators. Parents/caregivers have the opportunity to provide input into the process by writing a letter to me by May 1st each year on how your child learns best. The placement team, which includes the child’s current teacher(s), considers academic progress, interpersonal relationships, developmental needs, and attendance as key factors in creating balanced classrooms at each grade level. Building administrators assign teachers to class lists in July, once all staff is in place. Families are notified by mail over the summer. We are unable to honor any requests from parents/guardians regarding a specific teacher selection. Please feel free to contact me, if you have any questions.

Harvest of the Month

Dairy is the new Harvest of the Month in April! Local Maine milk featured from Oakhurst Dairy will be served in all PPS! Visit the Cafeteria Classroom website for more information and fun activities! Also, please sign up for school lunch; it's free for all PPS students!

Elementary Student Climate Survey

The Student Survey is a survey used to understand how students feel about their school. School staff will use the information in their efforts to improve the school experience for ALL students. The survey for elementary students includes 11 questions and is only completed by students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Individual student’s answers to the questions will not be known to anyone at your student’s school. Our hope is to involve parents/guardians in their children’s education. If you do not wish for your child to participate in this important activity, please inform their classroom teacher. Thank you!
