Monster Art
Second graders will be participating in an exciting upcoming assembly called Monster Art!
Back in October at CAS, students created their own original monster drawings, which were then sent to MHS. Since then, high school art students have been hard at work transforming those creative drawings into detailed paintings and sculptures.
On March 26th, the high school artists will visit our school to present their finished creations to each second grader. There will be a special mini-exhibit showcasing all of the artwork for students to walk through and enjoy.
Following the assembly, pizza will be provided as second graders have the opportunity to talk with their high school buddies about their artwork and creative process!

Looking Ahead: Grades 3โ5 New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA)
This spring, students in grades 3โ5 will participate in the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA), which measure progress in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science and help guide instructional planning across the state. The testing schedule is as follows: Grade 5 Science on April 28 & 29; Mathematics (Grades 3โ5) on May 5, 6, & 7; and ELA (Grades 3โ5) on May 19, 20, & 21.
Beginning this year, the traditional NJSLA will transition to the NJSLA-Adaptive, a computer-adaptive assessment that adjusts question difficulty in real time to better measure each studentโs strengths while continuing to assess the same New Jersey Student Learning Standards. The Department of Education is hosting Parent Virtual Information Sessions to provide more details; please review the Parent Information Session Flyer for dates and times. Additional information about testing procedures and preparation tips will be shared soon. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our studentsโ success.
