Hello Gladiator Families!
October is here and it decided to bring some rain along with it. I'm thankful for the slight dip in temperatures that also came along for the ride. We had another wonderful week and there's excitement in the air for Fall Break.
Bully Awareness Week
Next week is Bullying Awareness week. Please see the flyer below so everyone can participate in the theme days for next week! We want as much student participation as possible!
Attendance
We didn't quite reach our goal of 97%, but we were still very close. The 8th grade students convinced me to give them another incentive to be at school every day. If they average 98% attendance for a week I will eat an Arby's Meat Mountain Sandwich on stage at their lunch.
National Custodian Day
We celebrated our custodial staff on Friday for all of their hard work. We cannot thank them enough for keeping our campus looking good each and every day. Thank you Peggy, David, Ruben, Imelda, Nora, Sarait, and Yormali for being such an amazing custodial team!
PTA First Friday/ PTA Meeting
Our PTA provided our student members a tasty treat on Friday. Students enjoyed a bowl of ice cream with some of their favorite toppings. Thank you to all of our PTA volunteers that were able to serve so many of our students. I'm sure their forearms were sore from scooping all of that ice cream. We also had a PTA General Meeting on Wednesday where we found out that we have the largest PTA in the Northside with 1,136 members!
Reminders
We have hired a new crossing guard! Mrs. Smith will start as soon as HR is done completing the onboarding process. Thank you to Mrs. Anderson, the Alexanders, and all of the parent volunteers who have worked at the Sonoma/Kyle Seale intersection. Speaking of that intersection... Please make sure you are following all traffic laws and keeping our students safe while driving through. Drivers have been blocking the crosswalk, attempting U-turns and running the red light. We are actively working with CoSA to add signage and get SAPD to patrol during morning and after school high traffic times. Do your part in keeping our students safe.
I look forward to another great week!
