Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3| WEEK 5| 22ND AUG 2025
We thank You for the gift of our children who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion.
May this sacred moment draw them closer to You and fill their hearts with peace, joy, and love.
Bless their families, teachers, and all who have guided them on this journey of faith.
May they always know Your presence in the Eucharist and grow in kindness, compassion, and grace.
Help us, as a school and parish community, to continue nurturing their faith with love and encouragement.
We pray that this special day will be the beginning of a lifelong friendship with Jesus.
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff
What a wonderful week it’s been at Holy Rosary!
Our Book Week celebrations were a joyful highlight, with students arriving in the most creative and colourful costumes. From classic storybook characters to modern favourites, the effort from both children and parents was absolutely fantastic. A big thank you to Mrs Butson and Mrs Capolingua for their incredible work in organising such a fun, “Book an Adventure” week and all of their dressing up too.
We also extend a warm welcome to the families of our Holy Communion candidates, who will be celebrating this special sacrament on Saturday evening. It’s a beautiful milestone in their faith journey, and we warmly invite all families to attend.
Tonight, we’re excited to support Miss O’Neill and her talented band as they perform at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. We wish them all the best and know they’ll represent Holy Rosary with pride and passion.
As we approach the end of term, a gentle reminder that final school fee payments are nearly due. If you haven’t yet finalised your account, we kindly ask that you do so soon. We will be contacting a few families in the coming days to remind them.
Thank you for your continued support and for making Holy Rosary such a vibrant and caring community.
Kind regards,
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal
Dominican Dance Club
The Dominican Dance Club proudly represented Holy Rosary at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, performing in the Creative Dance section for the very first time . This section celebrates originality, expression, and storytelling through movement, and our students delivered an outstanding performance 👏.
Their hard work paid off, with the group being awarded an “Excellence” which is a fantastic achievement for their debut!
Congratulations to all the dancers for their effort and dedication and thank you to the staff and families who supported them ❤️
Water Corp Building Works
Please be advised that Water Corporation will be continuing works along Huntriss Road next week. On Monday 25 August, a water tank will be parked on the footpath outside the Siena Centre to ensure the school continues to have running water, as the local water supply will otherwise be isolated during the works.
🪑✉️ The Great Chair Strike in Year 2!
This week, the chairs went on strike in Year 2 - leaving students standing and wondering what had happened!
As part of their persuasive writing unit, students wrote thoughtful and convincing letters to persuade the chairs to return.
It was a fun and immersive experience that sparked creativity, collaboration, and some very persuasive arguments!
🧠 Numero Club Fridays!
Numero Club has been running every Friday morning in Term 3, starting at 7:40am in the library.
Students from Years 3–6, along with a small group of invited Year 2s, have been enjoying learning the game and building their number skills through fun, fast-paced challenges. Led by Mrs Hornby, Mr D’Aloia, and Mr Scutti, it’s a fantastic way to start the day!
Athletics Carnival – Friday, September 12
The Holy Rosary Athletics Carnival for all students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will be held on Friday, September 12, starting at 9:00am.
The carnival will take place on the school oval, beginning at approximately 9:10am.
- Junior Carnival (Pre-Primary to Year 2): Events will finish around 12:45pm.
- Senior Carnival (Years 3 to 6): Events will finish around 2:20pm.
The outline of events for both the Junior and Senior Carnivals will be published next week on Seesaw.
Parents are warmly invited to attend, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated:
- Senior Carnival (Years 3–6): If you would like to help, please email Rob Flexman through the administration office at admin@hrs.wa.edu.au. This carnival requires many helpers, so your support would make a big difference. Why not grab the best seat in the house as a timer, or get in the thick of the action as a marshal? Please let me know what role you would like to take on —thank you in advance!
- Junior Carnival (Pre-Primary to Year 2): If you would like to assist, please email your child’s classroom teacher through the administration office at admin@hrs.wa.edu.au
We look forward to seeing you all there for what should be a fantastic day.
P.S. A reminder that a few running tops from the recent CPSSA Cross Country Carnival are still outstanding. Could all squad members please return theirs, washed, and in a plastic bag with your child’s name and class by the end of next week?

Numero Information
Happy Book Week! It has been a truly adventurous week! Lunchtime library activities including match the bag to the book character, book bingo and our much loved ‘find the teacher’ were enjoyed in all weather conditions. The Book Week Art is truly spectacular and will remain up until the end of term. The Parade was an amazing finale to a great week, and I am so grateful to Ms Capolingua, Mrs Kirwan, Miss Ayling and all our wonderful staff for their help and support and for participating in this important celebration of literacy. Special thank you also to the incredible Library Monitors Remy, Alicia, Daniella, Elliott, Max and Andrew for all their hard work and Music Monitors Mitchell, Alex and Aiden for their help at the Book Week Parade. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we all did. Have a wonderful weekend!

“There is no place like home.”― L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
School events and clubs like Day of Friendship, Science Week, Performing Arts including the band, choir and dance, the weekly Rosary, Numero, Chess and Book Week all give students a sense of belonging and connectiveness while being able to use their gifts and talents to build confidence and have fun. Holy Rosary is so very lucky to have so many committed educators who invest time and love into providing these extra activities which support wellbeing on so many levels.
Friendology also supports student wellbeing and gives students the strategies and tools to build healthy friendships.
Please see below this week’s parent information supporting URStrong at home.
When to Step-in & When to Step-back: We really want to work as a team to empower your child with skills to create healthy friendships and be resilient. As parents ourselves, we know it’s sometimes heartbreaking to watch your child struggle. Here’s an article from our friends at URSTRONG suggesting when to step-in or when to step-back when they’re experiencing conflict in a friendship.
