Reminder: Toys and Distracting Items at School
Dear Parents and Guardians,
To help maintain a focused and productive learning environment, we want to remind everyone that toys and other distracting items should not be brought to school. This includes NeeDohs, stuffed animals, trading items, unnecessary or novelty writing utensils, and any other items brought from home that may cause a distraction during the school day.
Students have access to the writing utensils and supplies necessary for learning at school. While fun pens, pencils, erasers, and other novelty school supplies can be exciting, they can also become a distraction to the student or others around them.
If a student has a distracting item at school, they will first be asked to put it away in their backpack. If the item is seen again, the teacher will collect it, and a parent or guardian will need to pick it up.
We understand that some students benefit from using a fidget or sensory tool to support focus and learning. If a student requires a fidget item for this purpose, its use must be approved by the student's special education case carrier or an administrator. Approved fidget tools are intended to support learning and must be used appropriately. If an approved item becomes a distraction or is not being used as intended, it may still be collected by the teacher.
Our goal is not to limit students from bringing necessary school supplies, but to ensure that items brought from home support learning rather than distract from it.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our classrooms focused on learning and student success. We appreciate your support in reminding students to leave toys and other distracting items at home!
Thank you,
Mrs. Bowron, LES Principal

E-Bikes & Electric Scooters
E-Bikes & Electric Scooters: Know Before They Ride
Parents, please be aware that not all electric bikes are legally considered e-bikes in California. Some faster or more powerful electric bikes may be classified as mopeds, motor-driven cycles, or motorcycles and may require a valid driver’s license, registration, and/or insurance. If your child is not old enough or properly licensed, they may not legally operate these vehicles on public streets.
🚫 Electric Scooters Are Not Allowed
Students are not permitted to ride electric scooters to school. For the safety of our students, please make alternate transportation arrangements.
🚲 E-Bikes
Before allowing your child to ride an e-bike to school, please make sure the vehicle is age-appropriate, legally classified, and permitted for your child to operate under California law.
Important: If your child rides an electric scooter or an e-bike that they are not legally permitted to operate to school, they will not be allowed to ride it home. A parent/guardian will be contacted and required to pick up the child and the e-bike or scooter.
Click on this link to see the TVUSD E-Bike Safety Rules and Regulations for additional information and guidance.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe and ensure they are following school expectations and California law.
Know the rules before they ride!

Attendance Matters Every Day!
Dear Families,
Welcome to September! As we charge ahead into the school year, our district-wide "Level Up" attendance campaign moves into its next exciting phase: "Collect Power-Ups!"
This month, we are focusing on helping our young learners gather daily "power-ups," the essential reading strategies, math concepts, social skills, and healthy classroom routines that build momentum early in the year.
How Families Can Help Collect Daily Power-Ups:
⚡ Daily Skill Buffs: Every single day in class introduces new lessons that build directly on the day before. Missing a day means missing out on vital learning power-ups that make future concepts easier to master.
⏰ Maintain Your Routine Streak: Consistent sleep schedules and organized morning habits act as a daily shield against late arrivals and stress. Keeping a steady rhythm helps students spawn into the classroom rested and ready.
📊 Track Daily XP: Ask your child what new "power-up" or skill they unlocked at school today. Celebrating these small daily wins keeps them excited to maintain their attendance streak.
Showing up every day is the best way for students to build confidence and level up their learning. If your family is facing barriers with attendance or morning routines, please reach out to our office team, we are here to support your player every step of the way!
Let’s keep charging ahead and collecting those daily power-ups together!
Warmly,
2nd Grade Flat Stanley Adventures!
This week, our 2nd graders sent their “Flat Stanleys” off on their first adventures out into the world! Students placed their Flat Stanleys into envelopes addressed to different locations near and far and excitedly dropped them into the mailbox.
We can’t wait to see where Flat Stanley travels, who he meets, and what adventures he has along the way! 🌎✉️
Stay tuned for updates from his adventures!
KUDOS Calls!
This week, Mrs. Bowron and Ms. Mattson made lots of KUDOS Calls home to celebrate students who were recognized by their teachers for doing something awesome at school! We love having the opportunity to share these positive moments with families and celebrate our Lions for their hard work, kindness, growth, and great choices.
Keep shining, Lions! We are so proud of you! 💙💛🦁
