Principal's Message
Dear Logan Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed a little extra time together this weekend with students being out of school on Friday!
First, I want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to our families for CRUSHING Attendance Awareness Month in September! 🎉 Because of your continued efforts and commitment to getting students to school each day, we have reduced our chronic absenteeism rate to 13.71%—a 5.26 percentage-point decrease from this time last year! This is a tremendous accomplishment, and we appreciate your partnership in making attendance a priority. Remember, students who attend school consistently have a greater opportunity to master grade-level standards and expectations. Let’s keep this momentum going!
I would also like to thank all the families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday. Your partnership and engagement are essential to our students’ success, and we appreciate your commitment to working together to ensure every Leopard reaches their full potential.
We have another exciting and busy week ahead at Logan! Here are a few important reminders:
- PTO Meeting: Join us Thursday at 3:00 p.m. as we continue working together to support our school community.
- Annual Fall Festival: Bring the family and join us Friday from 5:00–7:30 p.m. for an evening of fun, fellowship, and fall festivities!
- Book Fair: Our Book Fair opens Thursday and will run through next Thursday, October 22. Be sure to stop by and help your child discover their next favorite book!
Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and dedication to the success of our students. Together, we are building a strong school community where every student has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive.
With Leopard Pride,
Principal Copeland 💚🤍
Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
Our second-grade students will participate in the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) Tuesday, October 13–Thursday, October 15. This assessment helps us better understand students’ reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
Please help your child prepare by ensuring they get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time each day. Your encouragement and support make a difference!
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to help our Leopards learn and grow!
World Finest Chocolate!
Our World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser is underway! 🍫
I hope everyone is enjoying a quiet and productive Friday. With the likelihood of the tropical storm bringing a lot of rain our way tomorrow, we are going to need to change some dates for our World’s Finest Chocolate fundraiser.

At Security Federal Bank, we offer a specialized savings account for kids designed to teach financial responsibility from an early age. Our youth savings accounts provide an excellent way for children to learn the importance of saving money while earning interest on their deposits.
If you are interested in opening a youth savings account and setting your child on the path to a secure financial future, Security Federal will be onsite on Friday of each week during the school year. Deposits will be available for drop-off between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. on Fridays.
For more details, they can be reached at: 1900 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC, 803-739-3960, and SVoit@securityfederalbank.com.
Breakfast and Lunch
Carline Procedures
We Must Work Together To Keep All Leopards Safe!!
Car Line Drop-Off
- Every child needs hugs, kisses, or high fives to start the school day. Please take care of this before arriving in the drop-off zone each day.
- Drivers, please remain in your vehicle. When you stop and get out, it slows the flow of the line.
Pull as far forward as reasonably possible to allow space for more parents to drop-off their Leopards.
Have students exit the car from the passenger side (right side). Students who exit from the driver’s side create a much higher chance for an accident.
Students may exit the car only after crossing the DOUBLE WHITE LINE.
- The doors are open from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. Please note that students must be in the classroom by 7:30 a.m. prepared for the instructional day.
- If you arrive after 7:30 am, please walk your child to the front office to complete the tardy slip. Do not leave your child unattended at the front door.
- After the first day, parents will not be allowed to walk in the building. This is for all parent and guardians. A staff member will ensure your child report to his or her assigned class.
If a family in front of you is taking longer than usual, you may carefully pull around the car when it is safe to do so.
Avoid walking across the parking lot. The sidewalk is a much safer alternative.
Car Line Pick-up
- Please remember to clearly display your child's car rider sign in the windows of your car. You will be able to pick up a tag during our Back to School Orientation.
- All transportation changes must be received in writing and always sent to your child’s teacher using their communication platform, e-mail, or fax to (803) 929-3896. All same day transportation changes need to be done through the front office.
- Early dismissal will end at 2:00 p.m. This is to ensure that dismissal is smooth at the end of the day. If there is an emergency, please contact the front office or let me know so accommodations can be made.
- The school day ends at 2:30 p.m. You must remain in your car. Please do not stand at the front entrance doors. Car riders will stay in the classroom with their teacher until their name is called.
- Abbeville Street will be a ONE WAY street (towards Park Street) between posted times 7:00 - 7:30 AM and 2:20 - 3:00 PM.
- NO LEFT TURN into the school parking lot from Lincoln Street during posted times 7:00 - 7:30 AM and 2:20 - 3:00 PM.
Parents and students can access bus stop locations, routes, and pick-up times on our secure mobile app, providing easy access and transparency.
