From the Principal

Dear Screaming Eagle Families,

The Reardan Elementary Screaming Eagles are off to a soaring start! It has been wonderful having our students back in the building ~ we missed those smiling faces so much. Over the past week, we’ve gotten to reconnect with friends, settle into daily routines, and dive right into learning what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe so we are Ready to Learn. A special welcome goes out to our youngest Screaming Eagles, who joined us on campus this week and took everything in stride ~ from bus safety to navigating mealtime and assemblies! As we kick off this school year, I am so excited to get to know all of our students and support them in a year focused on being Known, Loved, and Learning. We are so happy to have our Eagles with us, and I can't wait to see all the amazing things they will accomplish this year. My door is always open, so please reach out with any questions, concerns, or if you just want to get to know me! ~ Mrs. Dinkins

Counselor’s Corner

Hello, Families!

My name is Jill Singleton, and I am excited to introduce myself as your elementary school counselor! I have the privilege of working with students in TK through 6th grade, and I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and school community throughout the year.

As an elementary school counselor, my role is to support students in being successful at school—socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. I work with students through classroom lessons, individual check-ins, and small groups focused on skills that help children navigate school and relationships.

Our small-group topics are thoughtfully selected based on data and observations gathered from the adults who work with our students every day—including teachers, specialists, and paraeducators. By looking for patterns and trends, we can identify areas where students may benefit from additional instruction and practice.

While my role as a school counselor is not to provide ongoing therapy, I am here to listen, encourage, teach skills, problem-solve, and connect students and families with additional resources when needed. My goal is to help every student feel supported and equipped to do their best at school.

Our district motto, “Known, Loved, and Learning,” beautifully captures what I hope every student experiences each day. I want our students to know that they are seen and valued, feel cared for and supported, and have the skills and confidence they need to keep learning and growing. I am looking forward to a wonderful year together!

School Wide Procedures and Expectations are explicitly taught to students TK-6th grade so all students feel comfortable and confident in all areas of their day.

Nutrition Services Nutrition Services

New Year and a Few New Faces

Our team looks a little different this year, but our goal remains the same: providing nutritious meals and a welcoming experience in the lunchroom. We are excited to get to know our students and make school meals something they can look forward to each day.

Did you know that while some are hitting snooze… our School Nutrition team is already getting the day underway!

Long before students arrive, we’re prepping ingredients, preparing meals, checking deliveries, and getting everything ready for breakfast and lunch. There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes before that first tray reaches a student!

It takes a team to keep our kitchens stocked and meals ready to serve. We appreciate all the people behind the scenes who help make it happen!

From fresh ingredients to the finished meal, there’s always something cooking in the kitchen!

A Reminder for Families

If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility and Education Benefit Application. Completing an application helps determine eligibility for meal benefits and may help families access other benefits as well.

Be sure to visit the Food Services section in the Departments dropdown on the school website for resources, policies, menus, and optional forms.

Here’s to a great school year!

Security Update Security Update

We want to remind families about an important part of online safety: not every social media trend is worth participating in. A new “Cat in the Hat” trend involving threatening or disturbing posts has recently spread across the country, and law enforcement agencies are investigating incidents in multiple communities. In several cases, students have been arrested or charged for participating—even when the posts were intended as a joke or prank. This is a good opportunity to talk with your children about thinking before they post, share, or participate in an online trend. What may seem funny for a few seconds can have serious consequences at school and potentially under the law. Remind students: If something online looks threatening or concerning, don't share it—report it to a trusted adult or law enforcement and let the professionals handle it.
