WE CAN DO HARD THINGS!
ISASP'S APRIL 9th - APRIL 26th
As you might already know, the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) is an essential tool for measuring the academic progress of students in Iowa. The test evaluates various aspects of a student's academic abilities, including reading, writing, mathematics and science (5th grade). We understand that ISASP testing can be a stressful time for students, but we would like to reassure you that there is nothing to worry about. Teacher's will be sharing the testing schedule, as we will be doing one test a week starting next week. Follow the proper steps, and students will be well-prepared for the test!
Here are some steps that students and caregivers can follow for a proper ISASP testing:
1. Make sure that students arrive on time to school to give them normalcy!
2. Get a good night's sleep: Getting an adequate amount of sleep is critical to ensuring that students are alert and focused during the test. The night before the test, make sure that they get at least eight hours of sleep.
3. Eat a healthy breakfast: Having a nutritious breakfast will give students the energy they need to perform well on the test. Make sure to eat a breakfast that is rich in protein and carbohydrates.
4. Read the instructions carefully: Before starting the test, make sure to read the instructions carefully. This will ensure that you understand what is expected of you during the test.
5. Stay calm and focused: Finally, it's essential to stay calm and focused during the test. Try not to get distracted by other students or any noises in the room.
6. Students will be setting Growth and Effort Goals with the teachers prior to testing! Ask them what they are!

JEFFERSON ATTENDANCE CHALLENGE !
We bounced back a little bit in our February attendance! We were at 93% for our February attendance, as in January, we were at 91%. We aim to continue to push towards at least 94% for each of the remaining months of March, April and May! The weather is a little nicer, so we do think it is attainable. Remember, every minute, hour and day matters that our kids are not in school! Please continue to push them to be here!

SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY
Although we are excited for the eclipse, we understand that there are some precautions that must be taken. If teachers are interested in taking kids outside, they would have the equipment that is needed. As a school, we are not buying glasses for this event. If you want to send glasses for the event, you may do so, however, we are not responsible if they do not wear them. Most teachers will use a link to watch it online, safely. Please reach out to Mr. Kuch if you have any concerns.
