Road Construction - What To Expect Next Week
Project updates for the Week of Feb. 26:
Work is underway on $16.4 million worth of road improvement projects recently approved by the Sunnyvale Town Council.
Phase 2B and 2C include the repair and overlay of the following sections of asphalt roadway (dates are subject to change). This week's activity is scheduled to include:
- Tower Place (Town East to the Library) - Construction is completed with parking lot striping scheduled for Monday, Feb. 26. Access to/from the library will be maintained during parking lot striping activities.
- Larkin/Long Creek Intersection - The Sunnyvale Public Works Department will be replacing a 36” culvert under Larkin on Monday, Feb. 26. This replacement will require the full closure of Larkin just east of the Long Creek intersection for most of the day. If there are any questions related to the culvert replacement, please feel free to reach out to William Kearney, Public Works Superintendent, at 972-203-4183 or at William.kearney@townofsunnyvale.org.
- Larkin (Scyene to Long Creek) – Construction is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to reconstruct the westbound lane. Traffic will remain open for eastbound traffic. The westbound reconstruction is expected to last into mid-March when traffic will switch, and the eastbound lane will be reconstructed during the latter half of March. February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month
February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month. Cats and dogs who have been neutered are less likely to develop many fatal diseases and are less prone to engage in violent behavior. Of course, neutering pets helps reduce the number of stray and unwanted pets who find their way to animal shelters all across the nation.
Sunnyvale has lots of adoptable pets in our animal shelter awaiting a loving home. Adoption fees are still being waived. You will also receive vouchers for discounts on various pet services. Keep sharing with your friends and networks and let's resolve to find forever homes for Sunnyvale's shelter pets!
Call (214) 862-4525 or visit Petfinder page to learn about available pets!
A Special Foster Home is Needed!
We're still looking for a foster home for Kodak, a one-year-old German Shepherd. Kodak has severe anxiety issues and needs lots of care and attention. He is a great, loving dog. He's just very needy right now.
The Town will be responsible for Kodak's healthcare and food while in foster care. He can be adopted for FREE, and his new owner will be responsible for his continued health and recovery.
If you can assist, please contact the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter at (214) 862-4525.
