Eagle Edition
Edison Elementary ~ February 17, 2025
Note from the Principals
Hello Edison Families,
Thank you for your incredible generosity during our PET Meals on Wheels donation drive! We were thrilled to present our community partner with boxes of much-needed items, all thanks to your support.
Last week, we had the honor of welcoming Mayor Fiala to Edison for a discussion with our Principal Advisory Committee. He was eager to hear about the fantastic things happening at our school, and our students impressed him with their insightful questions about local government. It was a great opportunity for them to showcase their knowledge and curiosity!
We also had an exciting visit from a member of the Harlem Wizards, who brought energy and enthusiasm to a special school assembly while encouraging students to attend the district game. It was a memorable experience for everyone!
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Best,
Best,
Mrs. Tracz & Mrs. Mackey

Crossroads - Sources of Strength Lessons
This February-April, Edison will be partnering with Crossroads to bring the Sources of Strength program to our students. Our classroom teachers will stay with their classes as Crossroads presents the lessons to each class.
Sources of Strength is a strengths-based, upstream suicide prevention program. The curriculum consists of 4, 40-minute lessons. The four lessons are mental health (self-awareness and brain/body connection), healthy activities (regulation strategies), generosity (kindness and empathy), and community and connection (positive friends and connecting to help). The Sources of Strength website has some resources for parents, and we can forward any other questions you have to our contacts at Crossroads! https://sourcesofstrength.org/
If you would like to opt out of Crossroads support, please complete and return this form. (A copy can be requested in the school office).

Winter Resource Guide from Mrs. Hanlon, Family Liaison
Crossroads & Family Liaison
If you believe your child is experiencing challenges in terms of their mental well-being, it is important to reach out so we can provide needed interventions and support. To meet your child’s needs, it’s essential to collaborate with the principal(s) and/or our Family Liaison, Mrs. Hanlon, to explore resources and services available both inside and outside of school. We now have a Crossroads Provider at Edison, which has been a welcome layer of support for students and families.
Bus Zone
Did you know that the BusZone app provides you with a real time bus locator? Download the app so that you can check on the status of your child's school bus. The BusZone app has replaced the Petermann Bus Tracker which is no longer available.
Edison PTO
Edison families and staff are automatically part of our PTO! Meetings are the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Edison Eagle Landing. You can reach out to the PTO via email at eagles@edisonpto.org, and can follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
