Principal's Notes
It's a wonderful and busy time here at Cole School! May and June are packed with exciting field trips, culminating events, and year-end celebrations, and we couldn't be more thrilled to share these experiences with your children.
With all this excitement, though, can come a little anxiety. Changes to daily routines and the approaching end of the school year can stir up big feelings for some students, and that's completely normal. Our teachers and staff are committed to keeping students informed and prepared every step of the way, previewing upcoming events, talking through schedule changes, and offering plenty of reassurance.
Families can make a big difference at home by doing the same! Chatting with your child about what's coming up, expressing enthusiasm for the fun ahead, and reminding them that their teachers have everything planned can go a long way in easing any worries. We're so grateful for your partnership, and together we'll make these final weeks truly memorable!
We'll be celebrating School Speech and Language Therapist Appreciation Day on Monday! If your child works with Mrs. Amy Coughlin or Ms. Jolie O'Neil, please help us celebrate them with cards, notes, and drawings. They evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders, helping students gain confidence and improve social skills. We're lucky to have two of the best at Cole School!
We have some new staffing changes to share. Ms. Howell will be moving to Norwell Middle School to teach 7th grade STEM. Mrs. Hayman will be moving to grade 5 from grade 2 which brings her back to her roots as she taught grade 5 when she first started at Cole School. We have hired Ms. Carroll to teach grade 2 next year. Ms. Carroll has worked for almost the entire year in grade one as a long term substitute this year and is a welcome addition to our teaching staff!
Field Day is on Friday, June 5th! The rain date will be Tuesday, June 9th. Field Day will have an Olympic theme this year. Each class will represent a country of their choosing that participated at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics last February.
Grades 3-5 will participate in the morning, and grades K-2 in the afternoon with their classes in different Olympic station activities. All grades will participate in the opening ceremonies at 9:40 in the gym. All volunteers are required to have up-to-date CORI Forms and Fingerprints on file with the district. Field Day is only open to parent station volunteers who are CORI/Fingerprinted and who are committed to working as a volunteer for the entire morning or afternoon session. Each grade level is encouraged to wear a different colored T-shirt.
Kindergarten – white t-shirt, 1st Grade – yellow t-shirt, 2nd Grade – green t-shirt
3rd Grade – red t-shirt, 4th Grade – blue t-shirt, 5th Grade – designer t-shirt

Bus Ambassadors
Expectations on the Bus
By Hank S. and Ben B.
When you're on the bus you want to sit because if you don’t you’ll fall in a pit of trouble.
Keep your feet inside the seat or else you’ll hurt someone and they won't be on the bus for a while.
Be nice or you’ll be rolling the dice of trouble.
Keep the volume low or you’re gonna blow your voice that you need to glow.
Be nice to the bus driver or he/she might retire
Watch your step walking up or down the stairs so you don’t fall and split your lip
Counselor's Corner
I'm so happy to have had more nice weather days recently! Lots of my lunch groups have been able to happen in our beautiful courtyard this week. I have had lots of interest lately in my "recess bag," which has crafts, card games, and other activities that some kids enjoy as an alternative to more active play. I am always happy to take any unused craft supplies or card games to add to the bag if you are spring cleaning!
Specialists' Scoop
PE Happenings
Grades K-1 started a throwing, catching and batting unit. There were a lot of creative moves, cooperation, smiles and laughter when grade two combined physical education and music classes for a dance unit. Grades 3-5 were challenged with either the mile run or crunches/push ups as part of their post fitness testing.

Volunteer requests should be sent out soon via room parents. Field Day is not a spectator sport. Only volunteers may be on school campus for field day activities. You MUST have a valid CORI & Fingerprints on file with the front office to be a volunteer for this event.
Check Your Status:
- Fingerprinting never expires. If you've completed that in the past you are good.
- CORI clearances need to be renewed every three years.
- If you haven't volunteered in a while, it’s worth a quick call to the office to confirm yours is still current.
Timing: Fingerprinting requires an appointment. Please allow time for this.
Details for CORI & Fingerprinting can be found HERE
