Excellence Without Exception!
Vol. 1 - Issue 3 February 2026
Partners in Ministry
As we celebrate the completion of our winter NWEA MAP benchmark testing and move toward the close of third quarter, we praise God for the growth we are seeing across the five schools of the Lake Region Conference. These assessments provide valuable insight into student progress and help our teachers tailor instruction to meet individual needs. We are grateful for the partnership of our parents and church families who support learning at home and through prayer. Together, we are nurturing not only academic excellence, but strong Christian character grounded in faith.
As we enter the final stretch of the school year, we invite our entire constituent family to continue supporting our schools with your time, talent, and treasure. Volunteer in a classroom, mentor a student, assist with events, or share your professional expertise. Your involvement strengthens our school communities and reminds our students that they are surrounded by a caring, Christ-centered village invested in their success.
Financial support also remains essential as we sustain quality programs, maintain safe facilities, and provide resources that enhance teaching and learning. Every gift—large or small—makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for your continued commitment to Adventist education and for partnering with us to prepare our students for service now and for eternity.
Congratulations to our newly-voted president, Dr. Abraham Henry, and thank you for your ongoing commitment to Adventist Christian Education in Lake Region Conference. Our collected prayers are with you!

Fall & Winter Update
Chicago SDA Christian School has truly hit the ground running this school year, and we give all glory to God for His continued faithfulness. Over the summer, the Lord blessed us with the opportunity to upgrade our classrooms with new technology, including a Smart TV and Smart Board. These tools have allowed us to further integrate technology into our curriculum and enhance student engagement. We are especially excited about how this technology enables us to collaborate with other schools within our conference, expanding learning beyond the walls of our classroom.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” — Proverbs 9:10
Fall Week of Prayer - "ROOTED"
This fall, our school was richly blessed during our Fall Week of Prayer, titled ROOTED. God sent powerful messengers who poured into the hearts of our students, teaching them what it truly means to be rooted and grounded in God. We were honored to have Pastor Nathaniel Lyles (South Central Conference), Jonathan Johnson, Pastor Moses Eli (Allegheny East Conference), and Pastor Christopher Clark (Lake Region Conference) present to our students.
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith.” — Colossians 2:6–7
It was truly a high spiritual week, and we are already seeing God move on behalf of our students and our school.
Spiritual Growth
In October, we witnessed powerful evidence of the Holy Spirit at work as 13 students made the decision to be baptized. As a Christ-centered school, we believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ must come before all learning.
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” — John 17:3
Academic Excellence
Legacy of Excellence
Chicago SDA Christian School has served families for 111 years. We are confident that as we continue to put God first, He will provide all that we need for continued success.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33
Flint Fairhaven SDA School
Faithletes: Two are better than one
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for thier labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him is who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up." - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Winter NWEA Rally with Peterson-Warren Academy
Our students recently enjoyed an exciting Winter NWEA Rally Day in partnership with Peterson-Warren Academy! This special day gave students the opportunity to review important skills and concepts as they prepare for the Winter NWEA Benchmark assessment.
The day was filled with interactive activities, collaborative challenges, and lots of encouragement. It was wonderful to see our students engaged, confident, and ready to give their best effort. When learning is combined with fun and fellowship, confidence grows!
We are proud of our scholars for taking ownership of their learning and striving for excellence.
SMART Board Up and Running!
We are thrilled to share that our SMART Board is officially installed and fully operational!
We are incredibly thankful for the individuals who helped prepare the space and mount the board so our students can benefit from enhanced, interactive learning experiences. This technology provides access to extended learning opportunities, engaging lessons, and real-time collaboration that supports student achievement. Our classroom has been energized with new ways to explore math, reading, science, and more!
Tech Guru Appointment
We are excited to announce that our teacher has been appointed as the Tech Guru! This role will allow collaboration and innovation across our sister schools as new instructional technology strategies are learned and shared.
We can’t wait to see how this leadership opportunity enhances student learning, creativity, and digital skills throughout our school community.
Sharing the Word Through Children’s Stories
Each month, our students visit different local churches and record a Children’s Story video to share with the congregation. This has been a beautiful opportunity for our students to grow in confidence, public speaking, and ministry.
By stepping into leadership roles and sharing God’s Word, our students are not only learning academically but also developing spiritually and socially.
We are so proud of the way they represent our school and their faith.
Accreditation in Progress
This school year, we are actively working through the accreditation process. Accreditation is an important opportunity for us to reflect, grow, and strengthen every aspect of our school program.
Through this process, we are evaluating our academic practices, spiritual environment, leadership systems, and student outcomes to ensure we are providing the very best Christian education possible. We are excited about the growth that will come from this journey.
God is doing great things here at Flint Fairhaven! As our teams are growing both inside the classroom and beyond, we know there is always room for more. If you'd like to be a part of our team, we would love to have you on board. Contact Principal Katelyn Nieman to find out how.
Don't forget to follow us in Facebook and Instagram (@fairhavensdaschool) to watch God's work continue to unfold at our school.
Peterson Warren Academy
A Season of Growth, Gratitude, and Community at PWA
Peterson-Warren Academy has been buzzing with energy, learning, and heartfelt service this season. From academic preparation to acts of kindness across the community, our students and staff have embraced every opportunity to grow together.
MAP Rally: Learning Through Joy
To prepare for upcoming MAP testing, students participated in a lively MAP Rally hosted in partnership with Fairhaven SDA School.
- Students rotated through fun, skill-building games designed to strengthen the knowledge they’ll use during MAP assessments.
- Everyone enjoyed delicious haystacks while fellowshipping with friends from Flint Fairhaven.
- Game tickets earned throughout the day were exchanged for exciting prizes, adding an extra layer of motivation and celebration.
- A beautiful poster created from Nyami’s artwork added a special touch and encouragement to the event, showcasing the creativity within our school community.
- Plans are already underway for a joyful celebration once MAP testing is complete.
New Smart Boards Transform the Classroom
A major highlight this season has been the arrival of our new smart boards.
- Our wonderful superintendent and her husband personally delivered the boards, blessing our school with their support and presence.
- Students are already enjoying Spanish class on the big board, where lessons come alive in vivid color.
- Teachers are using the boards to make learning more visual, interactive, and engaging across all subjects.
Friday Chapels: Faith in Action
Each Friday, our students gather for chapel—a time of worship, learning, and spiritual growth.
- Elder Roberta Perry has been sharing church doctrines in a fun, memorable way. Students earn points for participation, which they can exchange for prizes at the end of the term.
- Our new whiteboard has enhanced these lessons, allowing Elder Perry to share pictures and visuals that help students connect more deeply with the messages.
K.I.S.S. Kids in Simple Service
Service remains at the heart of our mission. Under the leadership of Phyllis Washington, our K.I.S.S. program continues to shine.
- Students have been creating appreciation gifts for various community organizations.
- Recent projects include gifts for the Policewomen of Inkster—who were deeply appreciative—along with toys for local pet shelters and gifts for Veterans.
· These acts of kindness help students understand the joy of giving and the importance of community care.
Current Needs
To continue offering the best possible environment for our students, PWA is seeking support for several important needs:
- New Bibles for classroom and chapel use
- New flooring and supplies for the K.I.S.S. room
- New carpeting for classrooms
- Completion of refurbishing the high school wing
A Heartful Thank You
Our school thrives because of the dedication of individuals who give their time, energy, and love to our students.
- Thank you, Dr. Tim Gardner, for your tireless work in helping us secure the OST (Out of School Time) grant and for always being present wherever help is needed.
- Thank you, Pastor Neville Lendor, for leading our Thursday gym classes. The students absolutely love the activities—and they love you.
- Thank you, Mr. Manford Walker, for faithfully coming each day to support the office, answer phones, deliver printed materials, and greet visitors.
Each of you is a true blessing to PWA, and we are grateful beyond words.
