Healthy Snacks, Healthy Panthers!

One of the things that makes Prairie Lane special is that students are welcome to bring a snack to school each day! While snack policies vary from school to school, we are happy to provide our Panthers with an opportunity to enjoy a healthy snack during the school day. Nutritious snacks can provide energy to students to stay focused, engaged, and ready to learn throughout the school day. We encourage families to choose easy, nutritious snacks such as fresh fruit, applesauce or fruit cups, dried fruit, veggie straws, fruit snacks, crackers, popcorn, pretzels, granola bars, and other options. Your child’s teacher may share any additional classroom specific guidelines for snacks.

We try to save special treats for special occasions! Items such as cookies, candy, chips, or other sweets are best enjoyed occasionally as part of classroom celebration rather than as an everyday snack.

Families must use the Westside Community Schools District-Approved Snack List when choosing whole classroom snacks for celebrations or birthday treats. Our student population has a variety of food allergies and sensitivities, and following the approved list helps reduce the risk of exposure to serious food allergens and keeps our school community safer.

Thank you for promoting PAWSitive choices, healthy habits, wellness, and safe learning for all of our Panthers!
