The Braintree Buzz
Principal's Update
We had an excellent week at Braintree! We had an excellent school-wide PAWS assembly. When I visited classrooms, I saw engaging math, literacy, and science activities. Kindergarten, first, and second graders were working on phonemic awareness, identifying letter sounds and using them to spell and respell words. Sixth graders took a math assessment on volume and surface area. Preschoolers wrote a book called "In the Woods", in which each student illustrated and dictated a sentence for one page. Work Places (the math games in our Bridges curriculum) are just as fun as ever. First graders came up with their own word problems for addition and subtraction scenarios, and third graders rounded on number lines. I had the opportunity to substitute teach intermediate science this week, working on the advantages and disadvantages of different energy sources and the periodic table of elements.
We're also getting ready for holiday events. Please join us next Wednesday the 7th at 5:30pm for a community pot luck and winter concert. Bring a dish to share and enjoy music from our talented students! Braintree Blossoms, our farmstand, will be open with special goodies, and our school cookbook will be available for purchase.
