Activities Recap
Volleyball
The 7th grade was victorious in both A and B games against Mission Trail. Madison Randall paced the attack with 5 kills, while Payton Macrorie had 12 perfect passes from the back row. Ivory Forsythe had a game high 5 aces. Penelope Walker served out 9 assists for the match. A team won 25-10 and 25-5. The B game was just as successful. Emrie Remus was unstoppable form the front row with 4 kills. Evie Wardle served up 4 aces and had 4 assists. Hadlee Davis served 3 aces along with 2 perfect passes. Lila Cook recorded several diving saves which led to PRT points. B team won 25-16 and 25-8.
Our 8th grade teams had quite the battle for both A and B games. Game one was a grind, needing to go into extra points with a 27-25 victory. Emory Lustig served a game high 8 aces on the match. Game two was a different story, with Mission Trail coming out hot. They finished out the set 25-15. Brook Strack provided a couple 3-passes on serve receive, with a few additional digs on MT's solid attack. Blaire Swenson also showed out in the back row. Our passing game was on point. Needing to go into a third game, we were locked in. With a strong start, we were able to overcome a dominate team with a 15-9 victory. Exhaustion setting in, our B team was in for a tough match as well. Set one was a 24-26 defeat, with an MT comeback at the end. Although frustrated, we came out strong and dominated set 2 with a commanding 25-16 victory. Brynn Reves provided some consistent swings in the front row, while Callie Connell recorded a couple digs in the backrow. At the start of set 3, our girls were ready for a strong finish. Kellan Wetzel held it down at the net with multiple strong blocks. In the end, we fell just short of a B team victory with a score of 14-16.
These girls played their hearts out and we are so proud of their fight. Our next game is Wednesday at home against Summit Trail. We would love all the support!

26th Annual Rev. Dr. MLK Jr. OPS Contest
We are excited to share with you the theme and quote for this year's 26th Annual OPS Dr. MLK Jr. Contest. This is a collaborative contest with the Olathe Human Relations Commission, Garmin, Olathe Libraries and Olathe Public Schools.
This year's theme is Integrity & Justice. His quote, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." reminds us that integrity and justice can bring people together, heal division, and create lasting change. Even when facing hatred, he encouraged others to respond with courage and kindness.
This year’s contest invites our middle school and high school students to explore what integrity & justice means in your life and community. Students will express themselves by sharing their writing, art, or multi-media skills as they consider the theme – Integrity & Justice.
We are looking forward to receiving middle school and high school entries in visual arts, multimedia and written work from all schools. All entries are due to the PRT office on or before Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Building finalists will move on to the district competition where there are cash prizes for winners. If your student is interested in participating and needs more information, they should speak with Mr. Mellen.

8th Grade Career Pathways Fair
On Thursday, October 1, all 8th grade students will attend the Career Pathways Fair at Olathe Public Schools Innovation Campus (OPSIC). This event provides students with the opportunity to explore the wide range of options available to them in Olathe Schools beginning in high school. By engaging with high school students currently enrolled in these programs, your child will gain valuable insight into a variety of courses and opportunities.
Students will be able to explore:
· Career Pathway Programs
· Performing Arts
· Visual Arts
· Four-Year Academies
· Two-Year Academies
Students will be transported by bus to OPSIC and will attend the fair from 8:45am- 9:15am. Students will be leaving Prairie Trail at 8:30am and return to school by approximately 9:45am that day. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during this time.
To help our students prepare for this event, counselors will be visiting classrooms in the coming weeks to help them determine careers or career pathways of interest and sharing with them the expectations for the Career Pathways Fair. We will be asking our students to conduct themselves in a professional manner and encouraging them to dress in PRT spirit wear.
During the fair, students will complete a Pathway Fair Passport. Before attending, they will pre-select five pathways to visit based on their current interests and future career goals. We encourage you to talk with your child beforehand to help them decide which pathway booths they would most like to explore.
For more information about available career pathways, please review the diagram below on Industries, Clusters, and Pathways and visit: https://www.olatheschools.org/careerpathways
Thank you for supporting your child as they begin exploring their future opportunities!
