Maraming Salamat for IP50!

Celebrating Our IP Family's Exceptional Work

Maraming Salamatfor IP50!Celebrating Our IP Family's Exceptional Work

June 2, 2026

Dear IP Parents, Teachers, Alumni, Cast and Crew,

Our anniversary showcase, "Rooted and Rising: Iskwelahang Pilipino Turns 50," was a beautiful expression of who we are as a community, a loving reflection on our legacy, and -- through the voices of our children -- an inspirational vision for the future of Iskwelahang Pilipino. This was all because of your hard work, open hearts, and unwavering commitment to our children, our community, and our future.

Whether you stepped on stage with the energetic cast; supported with laser-like focus behind the scenes on the crew; welcomed families warmly at ticketing, IP merch, and the sari-sari store; contributed to the many-layered, engaging IP Experience; shared special memories for the documentary and archives; contributed treasured recipes to our cookbook; or taught our children with love this year, -- you were essential to this milestone. As one of the few FilAm organizations in the nation to reach the 50 year mark, we are truly launching into the next 50 years with unity, energy, and intention. I couldn't be prouder!

I want to share two stories that moved me deeply:

  • One of our original teachers shared that 50 years ago, founding parents couldn't imagine what IP would become, but they knew they just needed to get started -- and our showcase was exactly that dream made real. "We did it!"
  • After the show, a new-to-IP audience member's 3-year-old son ran home, grabbed his ukulele, and said, "I want to sing like them!" after watching our student ensemble with such pride. I think we'll see this new family join us next year!

This is the gift of our work together -- the realization of bayanihan at IP. These stories demonstrate the kind of impact we are making.

When I was growing up, a fragmented sense of identity was the norm. You checked your Filipino background at the door and went off to school, always uncertain about where you belonged. What I saw on stage, and what we see at IP every IP Sunday, are young FilAms growing more and more confident and comfortable embracing all of who they are. They are TEACHING US what it means to be unapologetically FilAm. Your love and generosity created more than we could imagine—you have ignited a spark in the hearts of our children, underscoring why Filipino American culture, community, and heritage matter so deeply.

Maraming, maraming salamat! I am so grateful to be on this journey together with you.

With tremendous pride,

Tita Myra
