Did You Know? Did You Know?

The Akron School District recently received some new weight equipment in its weight room. The purchase of the new equipment was made possible through the generous donations of members of our community. A big thank you goes out to Glosson Construction, Alan & Lori Baer, Pat & Stephanie O’Neil, Dave & Jamie Stavely, and Buildings By Design. A big thank you also goes to Merle Grauer, who helped secure the donations and researched the equipment we wanted in the room. We are also grateful to those who helped assemble the equipment: Brock Houston, Brandon Baker, and Mr. Larry Johnson and his building trades class. This equipment will significantly benefit our students for years to come. Thank you to these generous community members and everyone who continually comes together to help our students and school. We are so fortunate.

Safety Day Safety Day

On Friday, our elementary took part in their annual safety day. Every year members from the local emergency services put together a training presentation to inform our students about the importance of who to call in an emergency. This year the Akron Volunteer Fire Department brought two trucks and taught the kids about general fire safety. The Washington County Sheriff's Office showed students how to use the cross walks correctly and the Washington County Ambulance gave students a look inside an ambulance. The MEDEVAC Helicopter landed at the football field and students were able to sit inside.

Mrs. Hall and her design class have been designing tiles. Each student was asked to create a tile by using a blank white ceramic tile and markers. When they were finished they learned to seal their project.
