Cole Families,

We are excited to welcome the Fall Season and all the fun that comes with it! It’s going to be a busy week at school, with Drama Practice on Tuesday and Thursday, 6th Grade Comic Book League on Wednesday, and Chess Mates Club on Thursday. We are also excited to host our first Robotics Parent Meeting on Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Library—we hope to see our robotics families there! Cole Bulldogs will be hosting Tarpey on Friday for game day and Football & Cheer/Spirit night will be at BHS. This is a Pink Out night!

Finally, a friendly reminder to our 6th grade families: Sonora Candy Sales permission slips are due Friday, so please don’t forget to get those turned in. Here’s to a wonderful week of learning, creativity, teamwork, and Fall fun!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Go Bulldogs!

Mrs. Arruda

Principal

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS, SAFETY AND GENERAL INFORMATION STUDENT EXPECTATIONS, SAFETY AND GENERAL INFORMATION

Bell Schedule Reminders Bell Schedule Reminders

For TK/Kindergarten Students: Students need to be in the classroom at 7:30am for AM TK/K sessions. Students will need to be in the classroom at 11:05am for PM TK/K sessions. Once the classroom doors are closed, students need to report to the office for a tardy slip. Excessive tardies can lead to action from the school attendance review board (SARB).

The first school bell (grades 1-6) rings at 7:40am with students needing to be in their seats by 7:45am. If students arrive to class after 7:45am, they are tardy and will be sent to the office for a tardy slip. Excessive tardies can lead to action from the school attendance review board (SARB). We do not have supervision for our students before 7:15 a.m.

School dismissal time is 2:35pm. Every Wednesday is our Early Release Day and class will dismiss at 1:05pm. If you are picking up your child during the school day, please be prepared to show your ID. We do not call students out of class before you arrive as this takes away from their learning time.

Please pick up your child promptly at dismissal time. Students should not be directed to sit in the office after school. Students are to go to Parent Pickup and wait for their parent to arrive. If parent does not arrive within 10 minutes after the bell, they will be directed to come to the office to make a phone call to parent. Chronic late pick ups are documented and a Late Pick up letter from SSSA will be sent home if they continue. We are unable to provide before school or after school supervision in the Office.

Drop off/Pick up Area

We have a designated Drop off/Pick up Area in the north parking lot off of Sylmar for all grades. There is a designated Drop off/Pick up Area in the front of the school for our SDC Preschool and K-2 FLS classes as well as our TK/K classes. This is only for those littles as their classrooms are a in view of this drop off site. There is supervision at the Sylmar North Parking lot area from 7:15am-7:40am. Please treat our safety monitors courteously and follow their directions. Please have your children use this pick up area after school. This is the only area on campus after school that has adult supervision. Our number one priority is student safety!

  • When using this area to drop off and pick up your child, you must stay in your vehicle and pull all the way forward before stopping. If you need to get out of the car, you need to park and then you may walk your child in.
  • Please do not cut in front of other cars or double park. Do not honk or swerve around other drivers.
  • Students should be dropped off/picked up at the curb and are never to cut across the parking lot.
  • The South parking lot is for Busses and Administrative staff parking only. If visitor spots are open, you may park in those.

Attendance Attendance

Regular attendance fosters a classroom community between teachers and children.

If your child needs to be absent from school, it is very important you clear their absence through Parent Connect. All absences must be reported online within 5 days of the absence or we are unable to clear it and it will be marked uncleared.

California Education Code requires all school districts to notify parents when their student has a total of three (3) unexcused, uncleared or truant absences or unexcused tardies over 30 minutes.

Report an Absence
All absences must be reported online within 5 days of absence. We may not be able to change the uncleared absence after 5 days.
