A Note from Mr. Hamilton, Principal

Greetings,

As we collectively unite around finishing strong, there have been countless examples of culminating tasks, trips, capstone events, celebrations of growth, and end-of-year gatherings that point to a student experience that we are proud of. As such, consider this the "photo edition" of our ongoing parent newsletters. That said, it's merely impossible to capture every peak moment. Even if that were the only thing I did with my every day, I'd probably still run out of time. Truth be told, through the filter of strengths, purpose, and joy, and in alignment with our graduate profile competencies of Literate, Collaborative, Problem-Solver, Curious, Empathetic, and Self-Aware, great things are happening every day. And, we have had one heck of a year!

I look forward to giving our 4th graders a proper farewell real soon, before shifting gears to the second year of Summer Acceleration being held here at Central.

For your ongoing partnership and support, thank you for an incredible year, and for sharing your incredible kiddos with us!

Cordially,

Cody

Salmon in the Classroom - Our Best Year Yet!!! Salmon in the Classroom - Our Best Year Yet!!!

Throughout the year, students received the eggs, raised and cared for their salmon, studied fresh water systems, visited the Mattawan hatchery, visited a local filtration plant, released their salmon into a local stretch of the Muskegon, and canoed the Muskegon to replicate the path of travel their newly released salmon will take to the big lake. What an incredible story of stewardship and service to beautiful West Michigan!

Student Cell Phones and other Texting Devices at School Need to Remain in the Backpack in the Locker

Cell phones and/or texting devices can be disruptive to the educational environment. Students are not permitted to carry them during the school day - this includes during recess and lunch. When possible, parents should communicate through school staff. If these items are brought to school and are seen, they will be taken away. Items will be held by the principal until a parent or guardian comes to school to pick them up. Apple watches are discouraged, but if worn, should only be used as a watch. If seen talking on or texting with an Apple watch, the watch will remain in the office until a parent or guardian comes to school to pick it up. Thank you for your observance of this policy.
