🥫Harvest for the Hungry🥫
Hello, AACPS families and staff!
The 39th annual Harvest for the Hungry drive benefiting the Anne Arundel County Food Bank is underway October 1–31!
Harvest for the Hungry is the Food Bank’s largest food drive of the year, and they are counting on our support to help the more than 72,000 people in Anne Arundel County facing food insecurity. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. Your generosity helps support programs throughout our community, including food pantries, baby pantries, the Mobile Food Pantry, and the Backpack Buddies program with AACPS.
Harvest for the Hungry is also a great opportunity for our students to learn about the importance of giving back. By participating, students learn about hunger in our community and discover that they have the power to make a difference in the lives of others.
How to donate
Donate funds online: Visit aacps.org/harvest. When donating, be sure to select your student’s school from the drop-down menu. AACPS staff can select their office.
Donate food: Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at your student’s school (or office for AACPS staff) through October 31.
What to donate
ALL non-perishable, non-expired foods are welcome! Think about the foods your own family loves to eat when choosing items to donate.
Please avoid glass containers, which can easily break, and choose plastic containers whenever possible.
Every donation, big or small, helps support our neighbors in need. Thank you for your generosity and for helping our students make a difference in our community!

⚽📣🏀Middle School Athletics🏈📣🎽
Congrats to our Girls Basketball Team on Their WIN 👏🏀
~A Note from the MGA Athletics Office~
Congratulations to our boys and girls MGA basketball teams on a successful season! Especially for their wins at Corkran Middle School for the final games of the season. Their grit, determination, and perseverance were evident.
We are very excited to kick off our flag football season this week! Here is some important information that will help make tryouts and practices run smoothly.
Already Registered?
Student athletes (SAs) who completed the full registration process and tried out for a fall sport are ready for flag football tryouts. SAs who have already completed the full registration process for a non-fall sport are also ready to participate in tryouts. All other SAs will need to complete the full registration process. If you’re not sure about your registration process being complete, please email Mrs. Frank at kafrank@aacps.org to check.
Registration Process
The full registration process includes submitting the online registration form, as well as filling out, signing, and submitting all required documents to Mrs. Frank. Documentation can be emailed to kafrank@aacps.org or dropped off in the front office.
Required documents includes all of the following forms:
Authorization for Participation in Scholastic Athletics (page 4),
Application to Participate in Athletics (page 5),
Physical Examination Form, signed by a medical professional stating that the student athlete is Medically eligible for all sports without restriction (All appropriate pages complete, with medical professional signature and clearance on page 4)
Monarch Global Academy-Laurel Transportation Permission Form.
Please note that student athletes who are missing any of the necessary signed documents will not be allowed to participate in tryouts. This is an AACPS policy and will be strictly followed.
Tryouts and Practice Schedule
Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29 from 3:00-5:00 pm. SAs trying out should attend both days. Parents will pick up SAs at the end of tryouts at Brock Bridge Park (adjacent to Brock Bridge Elementary School). Unless otherwise noted, practices will follow the same Tuesday & Thursday schedule. Student athletes are expected to attend all practices and all games.
📖MGA Readers📖
📚 Reading Practice at Home (K-5)
Your child can now access personalized reading practice right from home through Amplify Boost Reading!
Boost Reading is an engaging, student-led digital program that adjusts to your child's unique needs using adaptive technology. It is a fantastic tool to keep your reader growing outside of the classroom.

💡 Quick Tips for Success at Home
- Let them work independently: The program adapts to your child's specific answers. If they get stuck, try not to give them the answer so the system can accurately learn and support their skill level.
- Keep it short: For grades K-3, aim for 30–45 minutes total per week (broken into 10–15 minute sessions). For grades 4-5, aim for 40–60 minutes total per week (broken into 20–30 minute sessions).
- Create a cozy spot: Grab a set of headphones, find a quiet space, and let them jump into the reading adventure!
