Apply as early as possible to beat the crowds. Make sure you are looking at scholarship deadlines as well.
Ask teachers, managers, religious leaders, coaches, etc. to write a letter of recommendation. Give them at least two weeks to complete the letter. Don't forget to include your academic resume.
