Homecoming Parade
On Friday, our student leaders walked alongside other schools and organizations from across the district, waving to the crowd and spreading Disney spirit throughout the community. Dressed in their Disney Student Council gear and big smiles, they showed what it means to Show Kindness, Take Responsibility, Always be Safe, and Respect Others both at school and in our community!
We are so proud of our Student Council members for their leadership, school pride, and community involvement. Thank you to our families and staff who came out to cheer them on and celebrate our amazing Fraser community during all the homecoming festivities. Thank you to Miss Capoferri and Ms. Lerchen for leading our student leaders!
PBIS Spotlight: October Character Trait - Self Control
As part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, each month we focus on a character trait that helps our students grow as Disney STARs. For the month of October, our focus is on Self-Control. Self-control means making good choices even when it’s hard, thinking before you act, and managing your emotions in a positive way.
Throughout the month, students will participate in classroom lessons, discussions, and activities that highlight ways to practice self-control at school, at home, and with friends. Staff members will be on the lookout for students who demonstrate this important trait each day!
At the end of the month, we’ll celebrate students who consistently show self-control and make positive choices as our October SuperSTARs!

Second Step: Social Emotional Curriculum
As you know, in September we kicked of the Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Ike to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
This week, each grade-level will begin a new unit. Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home during the second unit of Second Step.

Student-Led Conferences
Celebration of Learning
Student-Led Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 29th from 1:00-3:30 and from 4:30-7:30. This year, ALL families will be invited to attend our Fall Conferences to celebrate learning!
This conference will be a true Celebration of Learning led by our students. We will host an open-house style event from 1:00-3:30 and again from 4:30-7:30, allowing families to attend during a 10–15-minute time slot that best fits their schedule.
Each classroom will feature 4-6 viewing stations where students can share their learning experiences with their parents. During this time, students will reflect on their goals, showcase their work, and highlight their progress since October. Teachers will circulate throughout the classroom providing support as needed. Each student-led conference is expected to last about 10-15 minutes. If all viewing stations are occupied in the classroom, we kindly ask families to wait in the hallway until a station becomes available.
Please know our special education staff will be available for walk-ins during the entire day. Specials teachers will be rotating between assigned buildings; however, if you’d like to speak to someone specifically just let us know in the main office and we will have them follow up with you.
Our goal is for 100% of students and families to attend this event. We look forward to celebrating your child’s learning with you.

Restorative Practice Parent Night
Restorative Practices is a relational approach to building community. In this three hour training, you will learn some of the theory behind Restorative Practices as well as some practical strategies to add to your parent toolbox that are already being used with your students in our schools. Whether you have a kindergartener or a senior, this training is for you!
The Restorative Practices training team consists of a classroom teacher (Luke Woods), a retired public safety officer (Lisa Pettyes), and a social worker (Tina Radulski). The team has been training staff in RP for over 5 years and will bring several different perspectives to the training.
There are two difrerent slots to sign up - one if you require child care and one if you will not. Please make sure to use the right category.
Training will be on November 4th from 5-8:30 PM in the Richards Middle School Media Center.
New Student Check-Out and Item Drop Off
To help keep Disney students safe and limit building access, we are using new procedures in our main vestibule.
Checking out your student early? Please complete the check-out form on the iPad in the vestibule and wait there while office staff bring your student to you.
Dropping off a forgotten item? Please leave all items in the main vestibule. Sticky notes are available next to the iPad. Label the item with your student’s full name—first and last and place it on the bottom shelf or next to the shelf. Staff will deliver it as soon as possible.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep Disney safe!

Halloween Around Disney
Parade: A short "Halloween Parade" will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Friday, October 30th. Weather permitting, we will parade out door #1 and around the building. Our kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then out around the building. All are welcome to come and watch our costume parade outdoors!
Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels may be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check at least 48 hours prior to volunteering.
Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Friday, October 30th. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade only, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.

6th Grade Vaping Presentation
We are excited to have CARE support our school’s Red Ribbon Month activities by providing their “Dispelling Myths and Revealing Facts on Vaping” presentation to each of our 6th grade classes.
The presentations will take place during HEART classes during the month of October and will complement our Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Unit. This educational opportunity is designed to provide students with accurate, age-appropriate information to help them make informed and healthy choices.
Topics addressed during the presentation will include:
The ingredients and substances found in vaping products
Understanding nicotine and the risks of addiction
The potential health and social impacts of vaping
We appreciate CARE’s partnership in supporting our students through education and prevention and look forward to this meaningful learning opportunity during Red Ribbon Month.
Online Safety Practices
Here Comes the Bus
On Monday, September 28, Fraser Public Schools began our Synovia bus-scanning system for all bus-eligible elementary students.
Using Synovia, students scan their school ID when boarding and exiting the bus. This quick process provides the district with accurate ridership information and adds an extra layer of safety by helping staff know who is on each bus at any given time.
What families should know:
- Who is included: Bus-eligible Y5–6 students
- Who is not included: GSRP preschool students and special education students who receive door-to-door transportation
- Distribution: Students will receive a coil bracelet and ID card during the school day Monday
- Start date: Students will begin scanning after school on September 28
Students will never be denied access to the bus if they forget their ID. However, administrative follow-up will occur for students who repeatedly forget to bring it. Replacement ID cards are available through school media centers (a $3 fee may apply).
Here Comes the Bus App
The Synovia system connects with the free Here Comes the Bus app, which allows families to view bus arrival times and receive alerts when students scan on or off the bus.
To set up the app, families will need:
District code: 87797
Student ID number (found on id bracelets, report cards, in PowerSchool, or by contacting the school office)
Thank you for your partnership as we continue working to keep student transportation safe and secure.
Canvas Parent Access
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account.
Parents can use Canvas to
Contact their child’s teacher
View grades, due dates, and events
See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
Support an absent student
View classroom and building announcements
And more!
For the first step you will need to have two devices (tablet, laptop, computer or phone) available to be paired. One device will be used to log into your student’s canvas account. The other will be used to create your parent canvas account.
Log into Student Canvas Account on one device
- For parents/guardians of students whom are in young fives through 2nd Grade: A QR code of your students’ username and password will have been sent home. Use your camera function to scan the QR code to access your student’s Canvas Account. If you are having issues with the QR code, contact your teacher or elementary media tech.
- For parents/guardians of students whom are in 3rd-6th Grade: To log in as your student, have your student login to their Canvas account. Your student should know their username and password. If not, contact his or her teacher or your elementary media tech.
Create Parent Account on a second device:
- Open Canvas Parent Login
- Choose need a Canvas Account
- Follow prompts on screen to create account (see below resources for assistance)
Health Guidance for Attending School
At Disney Elementary, we want to partner with our families to create a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all of our students.
Please send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children home unless they are truly too sick to engage in learning and school routines.
To support families in making these decisions, we’ve put together a helpful reference chart outlining when to keep your child home and when they can safely return to school for common illnesses.
Thank you for working with us to keep our students and staff healthy and ready to learn!
Red Flag Outside Indicates Indoor Lineup
When the red flag is hung outside our front doors, this means indoor line-up. Students only can enter the building thru the main door (door #1) as well as the back door (door #18) starting at 8:20 AM.
Please utilize the car drop-off line and students will enter in the back of the building (door #18). If your child needs assistance, please park in a parking spot and walk your child to the main entrance (door #1). Student drop off is NOT allowed in the bus loop during indoor lineup.
