Welcome to the start of the 2025-26 school year at JKL Bahweting Anishnabe School! We are thrilled to have you as part of our school community and are dedicated to ensuring a successful year for your kiddos. All staff return next week and we are so excited for what is to be the best school year yet! Below, you'll find important information to help kick off the school year on the right foot.

Back to School BBQ Meet and Greet

Please join us for our annual fun-filled Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. We're hosting a picnic-style dinner and this event is a great opportunity to meet our staff, explore classrooms and meet other JKL families before the school year begins. Additionally, you'll have access to transportation information, schedules, and the chance for middle school students to practice their locker combinations.

6-8: Athletic Entrance

Attending this event is crucial, as we encourage students to enter school independently on the first day for security reasons. This approach also aids students who may find it challenging to separate from their parents.

It’s the easiest way to stay connected to our Eagles and celebrate all the great things happening in our school!

Class Dojo is the primary mode of communication used by JKL staff to communicate with families. It is the most efficient way to get ahold of your child’s teacher. It is a free app for your phone as well accessible on the web at www.classdojo.com. If you do not currently have an account and need to be connected with your child’s teacher, please let them know at the Back to School BBQ this Wednesday, August 27 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

The Parent Portal is officially open! You can access the Parent Portal to view your child's teacher assignment and bus information. You can access the portal through a link on our website or by downloading the Campus Parent app. If this is your first time using the portal, please email ParentPortal@jklschool.org to request your activation key. You will use this one timecode to create your account.

JKL does not take teacher requests. Class lists are built with great care to balance student needs, learning styles and classroom dynamics. This is best practice for student success and we’re confident every classroom at JKL is led by a caring, dedicated teacher ready to support your child.

At the end of last school year, we said a bittersweet goodbye to three amazing members of our JKL team who officially retired. While they won’t be with us in the building this year, their presence will definitely be missed—their friendly faces in the halls, their laughter in the lounge and their smiles in classrooms brought so much joy to our days.

Their unwavering dedication and passion for students have shaped countless lives and left a lasting mark on our JKL community. We are so thankful for the years of care, energy and heart they poured into our Eagles. Their impact on students, families and staff will carry on for years to come.

We wish them nothing but the best in this next chapter - may it be filled with joy, adventure and all the things they love most!

If you’ve been by JKL this summer, you may have noticed—it’s been a busy place! From shiny new restrooms and cafeteria updates to covered walkways, a new pavilion, an additional greenhouse, and more, the joint is looking better than ever.

We do ask for your patience as a few projects will still be underway when school starts—but trust us, it’s going to be so worth it! We can’t wait for our students and families to enjoy all the improvements and upgrades throughout the year.
