PQ Tuesday Newsday
August 4, 2026
Principal Message
Dear PQ Families,
It is hard to believe the first edition of Tuesday Newsday is here for the 2026–2027 school year!
I hope you and your family have been enjoying the summer, finding time to relax, recharge, and create lasting memories with loved ones. While we still have another month of summer to enjoy, I can't help but feel a sense of excitement and optimism as we look ahead to the new school year.
For all that stays the same, there are some new and exciting changes. First and foremost, welcome to Christopher Lupinacci, our new Assistant Principal! Mr. Lupinacci is coming to us from PS/MS 498 in the Bronx. He has taught 4th grade through middle school and most recently was a math instructional coach. He has an incredible background in supporting students, teachers, and parents, and I know that he will continue that great work here at PQ.
I would also like to welcome school psychologist Benjamin Schumer. He was an intern here at PQ last year and will be replacing Dr. Merriman, who is now the CSE chairperson for the district. Mr. Schumer has already built positive relationships with students and will be an incredible addition to our clinical team.
As we begin preparing for the upcoming school year, I want you to know how excited I am for this new chapter at PQ. This school community has truly become a second home to me, and it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as Principal.
I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together over the past four years. As we look ahead, we will continue to embrace our guiding theme, "Rooted in Our Past, Growing Our Future," because it reflects exactly how we will move forward. We will honor the traditions and strong relationships that make PQ so special while continuing to grow, innovate, and create meaningful opportunities for every student to succeed.
Sincerely,
Dawn Snowdon

Important Task #1 -eSD Parent Portal
eSD Parent Portal is an important app we use throughout your child's entire K-12 experience. At PQ, you get your child’s teacher assignment and report cards from the Parent Portal. At the MSHS, you will get your child’s schedule, grades, etc. You create this account in Kindergarten and it remains the same for your career in the district.
**This week we would like you to log on to the eSD Parent Portal. When you log on, you will be asked to verify/update your information. It is very IMPORTANT that you do this because we need to have:
- accurate phone numbers to reach you
- accurate emails to send you information
- updated and necessary emergency contacts in case we are ever unable to reach you in an emergency (emergency contacts should be people other than yourself)
Once you update your information, make sure you CLICK the VERIFY button.
If you are new to the district, you will need your child's ID number before logging into Parent Portal. Incoming Kindergarten parents will receive a letter in the mail this week that contains their kindergartener's ID number. Parents of students who are new to the school in 1st-5th grades will receive their student ID number via email soon.
If you have returning students, you would have already created a login for Parent Portal. We still need you to log in and double check that the information in the system is up to date and correct.
The eSD Parent Portal can be found on the school website. Click the button in the middle of the PQ homepage called Parent Log-ins. There is a link and a tutorial there. Here is a direct link to the eSD Parent Portal.
Be sure to do this in advance of August 14th. Your child’s teacher assignment will be posted in the evening on this date!
