Calls and Emails from Attendance
Dear Anthony Families,
We are aware that occasionally absence calls and emails are going out related to Period 25. This period is designated for after school and special project classes and does not affect your student's school record. If you report an absence to the school and you still receive a call or email for Period 25, please disregard. We apologize if this has caused concern.
Thank You.
6th Grade Rotation Classes
Attention 6th grade families: There are two important schedule changes to note for Q3. See below.
-Your child will be switching their Quarter rotation class starting Monday, 1/27. See the graphic below to identify where they will go next based on their current class. 6th grade students will take all four Quarter rotation classes (Design & Modeling, Exploratory French, Explore Writing, and Exploratory Japanese) unless they are enrolled in a pull-out support class.
-Your 6th grader will also be switching their PhyEd and Art classes for the remainder of the year. So, if your child took PhyEd for Quarters 1 and 2, they will switch to Art for Quarters 3 and 4. And if they took Art for Quarters 1 and 2, they will take PhyEd for Quarters 3 and 4.
You may contact your child’s current Quarter rotation teacher or megan.gustafson@mpls.k12.mn.us if you have questions.
MPS Caregiver Priorities Survey
As part of the School Transformation resolution passed by the Minneapolis Public School Board in December of 2023, a Community Engagement project is gathering feedback on parent and caregiver priorities for the district. This survey follows a review of data collected from the last ten years in order to confirm previously identified priorities and determine additional areas of consideration moving forward.
Thank you for taking the time to help MPS understand what is most important for your student(s) and family.

Panther Choirs
Students in choir have been working very hard; all students have been developing their ability to sight-read music and improve their music literacy skills. Choirs have also started working on music for our spring concert which is taking place on April 22nd.
6th graders are learning “Rainbow Connection” and “How Far I’ll Go,” while 7th and 8th graders have started learning “Danny Boy” and “Bonse Aba.” In February we will focus our attention on Black composers as we learn “We Shall Overcome” and “Everlasting Melody.”
8th graders and Honors Choir members are preparing to visit Southwest High School for the Bridging Day field trip, and are looking forward to getting a sneak peek of High School Choir.
Music at Anthony is thriving and students continue to blow me away with their creativity, musicality, and team efforts.
