PSAT Registration Open Until October 19

The PSAT exam will take place in the South library at 8:00am on Wednesday, October 28. Students should arrive 30 minutes earlier to check in. Please note - this start time is *before* regular school hours.

The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT college entrance exam. As such, it is optional and has no bearing on college acceptance; however, for 11th graders it IS the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship.

9th, 10th, and 11th graders can register, but only 11th grade scores are considered for the scholarship.

Registration is open from now until the end of day Monday, October 19. Families can register their students online at tinyurl.com/PSATsouth. Please note, there is a $25 fee (families on the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch program can request a fee waiver).

Healthcare Club with Abbott Northwestern is starting in October!

Healthcare Club is back! This club is open to all students and is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about careers in healthcare. The club meets once every other month with physicians from Abbott Northwestern to participate in hands on activities like first aid, ultrasound, and more!

Our first meeting will be this Tuesday, October 22 from 3:15pm-4:00pm in Room 150. Students who have returned their permission slips will be welcome to stay and participate in a get to know you activity to kick off this year! Kelsey is aware this is the night of the Homecoming Volleyball Game. If students are unable to attend, that is understandable. Unfortunately this date was decided in August and cannot be moved now. As long as students turn in their permission slip, they are welcome to join the next meeting in December.

There are 15 spots still available. If you are interested, please stop by the CCC (Room 150) to get a permission slip for this awesome chance to build your network and connect with doctors!

Join TRiO Upward Bound with the University of Minnesota, Duluth!

9th & 10th graders who are looking for support in academics and college planning should consider signing up for TRiO Upward Bound with the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Students need to be in 9th or 10th grade, a US Citizen, and qualify for educational benefits (like Free or Reduced Lunch) to be eligible for the program. Once accepted students will participate in academic tutoring, college tours, test preparation, and more!

Questions? Connect with Tala Kim, kim01563@umn.edu. Students can apply here.

Rep Visits Continue Through The Fall in the CCC

Students can find all the scheduled Rep Visits on the CCC Calendar. Rep Visits can be added or changed throughout the fall, so we encourage students to check the calendar weekly. The rep visits are also listed under the "Events" tab in Xello. Lastly, Katie and Kelsey will also share the weekly calendar on the whiteboard outside the CCC (Room 150).

Please make sure you pick up a pass from the CCC to attend a Rep Visit! Students will not be allowed to stay for the visit without a signed pass.
