Welcome to PhysicalEducation2026-2027

PE is for Every Body! PE is for Every Body!

Greetings from the gym!

We started off the year with getting settled in our routines and expectations to be safe, kind, and responsible in PE. Then we played some games to work on our teamwork and cooperation skills.

My goal is for the gym and PE class to be a safe and fun space for every kid, regardless of physical ability, body type, or experience level. We do a variety of units throughout the year and mix it up so there is something for everyone. Some units focus on more traditional team sports like soccer, frisbee, or basketball and some on more general movement skills or activities like biking, gymnastics, and dance. I tell kids that I don’t expect every unit to be their favorite, but I do expect them to try their best.

I focus a lot on how to be a good sport when we play games. We talk about what that looks like during the game (following the rules, supporting our teammates, keeping a positive attitude) and at the end of the game (being kind if we win and kind if we lose, saying “good game” to the other team, focusing on having fun more than the final score). Just like we practice physical skills to get better, we also practice the skill of being a good sport.

I am looking forward to working with all our Viewlands Orcas this year and having lots of fun in the gym as we learn and grow together! If you have any questions or need to get ahold of me, the best way to reach me is on TalkingPoints.

Cheers,

Coach Lauren
