Curriculum Night - August 28th

Please join us on Thursday, August 28th for Curriculum/Title I Night! We will first gather in the MPR at 6 pm for a presentation from school leaders. Families will then be dismissed to their student's classrooms to receive information from teachers for specific grade levels. There will be two sessions available for families needing to attend for multiple children. Sessions will last 20 minutes, and students are welcome to attend!

Don’t wait until October conferences to connect with your child’s teacher - start the conversation now and set your student up for success! This night is your chance to see what’s ahead, learn how to support learning at home, and build that home-school connection early.

The schedule is as follows:

6:00-6:30 - Presentation from school leaders (for all families, in MPR)

6:40-7:00 - Grade Level Presentations (for all families, in classrooms)

7:10-7:30 - Grade Level Presentations (only for families with more than one CWC student)

Additionally, last year's MAP test results will be sent home with our returning 4th-8th graders. Please let us know if you have any questions!

DashPass App for Dismissal

We are almost ready to roll out DashPass as our new dismissal platform! Before we can do that, we must ensure that 100% of our families are active and logged into DashPass. This includes our CampFire families, as there will be occasional days when after-school care is not available and all students will need to be picked up at dismissal time.

Beginning this week, we will be asking all adults picking up students to verify that they have downloaded the app and are connected to their child(ren).

Please watch this video to learn how to get started. You should have received an email invitation from school late last week; simply follow the directions to download the app, then click on “Sign In”, and it should switch over to the newly downloaded app and sign you in. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, don’t forget to check your spam!

After your initial setup, learn how to authorize other adults to pick up your student or change your car color. You can also expect us to email you more info in the next two weeks.

If you have any problems signing in, the first place to check is your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to verify that the correct email is being used. Should you need assistance with updating contact information in Infinite Campus, please email info@cwckansascity.org. If you are seeing the correct email in Infinite Campus but still having problems, please contact DashPass for assistance at schooldismissalsupport@dashpass.net

Please ask all of your questions during the next two weeks because beginning Monday, September 8th, we will only allow authorized adults using the app to pick up students! If at that time you do not have DashPass set up, you will need to park on surrounding streets and walk into school to get help setting it up.

Please note that we will not be using some of the features within the DashPass app. Please continue to email the attendance lines or call the front desk for absences; early pickups will take place at the front desk as usual.

We look forward to having an even more streamlined and safe dismissal procedure. Please reach out with any questions!

Fall Clubs Update

We are very excited for clubs to start back up this fall. We have lots of exciting and new opportunities to offer your students! We are still in the process of finalizing some details, but we will send out the registration for fall clubs as soon as it is ready. Please be on the lookout for an update from Mr. Stafford at the end of this week or early next week!

Free & Reduced Lunch Forms

We ask that every family enrolled fill out the Free & Reduced Lunch form every year to ensure that all families have the opportunity to take advantage of the program. If you have not yet completed the form, please turn it in as soon as possible.

The form can be downloaded here (English or Spanish) or picked up at the front desk. You may either drop off the completed form at the front desk or send a clear photo to Mr. Blake at blake.smith@cwckansascity.org - please feel free to reach out to him with any questions about the form or the FRL program.
