MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL KENELY
Dear Dolphin Parents,
LISD is committed to building positive partnerships between our staff and the communities we serve through clear, respectful communication. By acting as a bridge for community engagement, we create stronger connections that lead to meaningful outcomes.
When our staff and families work together, we set students up for success—ensuring they are prepared, confident, and future ready.
At Donald, my goal this year is to build stronger relationships between parents and classroom teachers. It is important that if there is ever a concern, you go directly to the teacher first. This sets the tone for a healthy partnership and helps strengthen trust. My mantra is, “Always presume positive intent!” I know this can feel challenging when emotions are high, and we’ve already told ourselves a story about the situation. However, by taking a moment to reframe and open our minds we can see the situation in a different light.
Mrs. Kenely
Proud Principal of Donald Elementary 🐬💙
Picture Day is Tomorrow!
Come out tomorrow night!
In- N- Out
If you purchased your In & Out tickets in advance, you will be able to enjoy your meal in the cafeteria before the STEM activities begin at 6:00.
Academic Clarity
Students and teachers can express a clear vision of essential learning outcomes and a shared understanding of success.
Students have clarity if they are able to answer the following three questions:
What am I learning?
Why am I learning it?
How will I know when I have learned it?
Provide students with a clear and understandable vision of the learning with learning targets and success criteria. Use examples and models of strong and weak work to clarify expectations.
Mrs. Camp's 2nd Grade Class
Mrs. Camp's class focused on identifying and discussing author’s purpose with supporting text evidence. They did a great job of using academic vocabulary in their discussions.
The Donald Elementary PTA knows that a strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That’s why we are participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.
We need your help! As part of the process outlined by National PTA, we are requesting feedback from families, administrators and teachers at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Using the community feedback, we will build an Excellence Action Plan to strengthen family-school partnerships.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete this survey. Please complete this survey by October 15th.
Grade Level Newsletters
We encourage you to take a few minutes this week to fill out a Recognize Someone form! This is a wonderful way to share your appreciation for a teacher, staff member, or even our Principal or Assistant Principal. A few kind words can go a long way in brightening someone’s day and reminding them of the impact they are making.

Reflections Program
Donald Elementary is participating in the LISD Stuff the Pantry food drive again this year. Our Kindness Ambassadors will be helping to organize and lead the campaign at our campus.
What can you do to help?- If you are able to send the items below to school with your Donald student, we will be happy to add them to our campus total. The items have different points as the district works in coordination with local charities to collect for the upcoming holiday food needs.
We will begin collecting on Monday, September 29, and will wrap up on Friday, October 3.
The top three classes overall in donation points at Donald will receive a popsicle or popcorn party, and the class with the highest point total will be entered into the district level of competition. The top class and school across the district will be recognized by the LISD Board of Trustees during an upcoming board meeting.
Thank you for helping out the less fortunate in our community as we work together to model kindness and compassion throughout our school. Donated items will be given to CCA to help fill Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for local families.
If you have any questions or would like to make a donation that is too large for your child to bring to the school, please contact our counselors, Mrs. Mennsfield at mennsfielde@lisd.net or Ms. Ramsey at ramseyN@lisd.net.
Items Needed (each worth 2 points in the competition toward class/campus totals):
Cereal
Peanut Butter
Items Needed (each worth 1 point in the competition toward class/campus totals)
Canned evaporated milk
Canned fruit
Instant potatoes
Canned pie filling
Canned yams
Condiments (like ketchup and mustard)
Brands do not matter, but expiration dates do. Please check the expiration dates on the items you are donating before sending to school. Please do not send glass items or flour/sugar sacks as they break easily.
21 Day Snacking Challenge
It’s time for our Annual 21 Day Snacking Challenge! Each year, LISD partners with the Medical City Children’s Hospital to help educate children and parents about how to adopt healthy eating habits. Students commit to trying healthy snacks for 21 days using ideas from a digital recipe book that is written by local high school culinary students. There are some fun prizes at the end if you complete the final assessment, but the real prize is that we are working together to create healthy habits one snack at a time! Register to join us in the 21 Day Snacking Challenge by going here: https://kids-teaching-kids.com/ Registration is open and ends 9/30. The 21 Day Snacking Challenge will be from 9/30 – 10/20, so sign up today!
Want to go on Class Field Trips this year? Volunteer on campus?
If you are wanting to attend your child's field trips, help with events, or volunteer on campus you MUST have a VOLY background check complete. It is a very easy process and nice to get out of the way early before it's too late!
Lewisville ISD's VOLY site is open and ready to accept volunteers for the 2025-2026 school year. All volunteers on LISD campuses must have an approved background check on file. LISD uses LewisvilleISD.voly.org to post volunteer opportunities and to process background checks. Please go to the site and either create an account or update your account from a previous year. VOLY also has an app! You can find it in the app store for either Apple or Android products. Be sure to select that you want to work with Lewisville ISD. We look forward to having you on campus as a volunteer soon!
School Lunch Accounts
For the 2025–2026 school year, LISD will increase student and adult meal prices to align with federal guidelines and rising food service costs. This marks the first student lunch price increase since the 22-23 school year. Breakfast and lunch prices will increase by $0.30. These adjustments help ensure compliance with USDA requirements and reflect the district’s efforts to maintain high-quality, sustainable meal services.
All students that qualify as receiving reduced price meals at the previous price of $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch will now get all breakfast and lunch meals for FREE at all LISD campuses for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. Find out if you are eligible and apply HERE.
Free and Reduced Lunch
You must apply each year for the Free and Reduced Lunch program. Complete the application by clicking on the button to see if qualify.

In a continued effort to keep our schools and citizens safe, Flower Mound PD would like to educate our children and parents on the difference between what is classified as an Ebike (Electric Bike) and a motorcycle. You can see the attached flyer for clarification. If you or your child is riding one of these Ebike devices equipped with a motor of 750 watts or more or capable of going over 28mph, it is defined as a motorcycle according to Texas transportation laws and must adhere to motorcycle laws and regulations. Violations of these laws could result in a citation(s) to you and/or your child. Potential offenses include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Child could be issued a citation for driving without a driver’s license.
- Parent could be issued a citation for allowing their child to drive without a driver’s license.
- Child or parent could be issued a citation for not having a motorcycle endorsement on their driver’s license if applicable.
- Child or parent could be issued a citation for no vehicle registration.
- Child or parent could be issued a citation for no vehicle insurance, and vehicle could be towed.
You can also refer to the following Texas Transportation Codes as well:
Texas Transportation Code 664.001 defines E-Bikes
Texas Transportation Code 551.107 defines potential offense
