Good Morning Memorial Families,
What a week we had at Memorial. I would like to start by thanking the Memorial PTO, and in particular, the members of the Fun Run Planning Committee, who made our first ever Fun Run wildly successful. All in all, our community raised over $26,000 dollars for our school. That money will be going towards water bottle filling stations, field trip bussing, as well as in school cultural arts programs this year. A great thanks goes to our families for supporting this fundraiser by donating and sharing the donation page out to family and friends across the world. And a final thank you goes to the generous sponsors whose generosity enabled us to purchase t-shirts for all staff and students. We are so grateful for the support of so many in making this our biggest fundraiser in recent memory.
As promised, students were treated to an opportunity to duct tape Ms. Chuk and I to the wall last Thursday afternoon. There were some tense moments when the chairs were taken out from under us, but I am happy to say that we both hung proudly on the wall much to the delight of the students in the cafeteria. I haven't laughed that hard in ages, and that was an experience that I will remember fondly. Thank you to Kevin Vaillancourt for being there to reinforce the work of the kids. We went through almost 36 rolls of duct tape!
On October 31st, students will be engaging in a fun day of creativity with cardboard. Each grade level will have a 40 minute block of time to come into the gym to build, create, and enjoy designing things out of cardboard that we have been collecting for the past several months. Each grade level will get to build on to, or recreate what the previous class built. We are looking for adult volunteers to come and help our students with all of this fun design work.
