Celebrating a Wonderful First Semester

As we approach the winter break, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible first half of the 2025-26 school year across the Oroville Union High School District. It has been a joy to see our campuses filled with energy, learning, and connection from day one.

Our students have worked hard, whether in classrooms, on athletic fields, on stage, or through hands on learning in our career and technical programs. Their dedication and enthusiasm continue to remind us what makes OUHSD such a special place to learn and grow. We have seen creativity, perseverance, and teamwork on full display this semester, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished.

I also want to recognize the amazing efforts of our teachers, counselors, and support staff, whose care and commitment create environments where students feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their goals. And to our OUHSD families, thank you for being our partners. Your encouragement at home, presence at events, and support for our schools truly make a difference.

This semester, we have continued to grow our hands on learning opportunities, giving students the chance to apply their skills in real world settings and prepare for college, careers, and life beyond high school. From career technical programs to community partnerships and student events focused on college and job readiness, we are helping students explore their futures with confidence.

As we head into winter break, I hope our students and families have the opportunity to rest and recharge. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in January, ready to continue the learning, growth, and success that define OUHSD.

On behalf of our entire team, thank you for your continued trust and support.
Wishing you a safe, restful break and a strong start to the new year.

Warm regards,
Douglas J. Williams
Superintendent

Hands-On Native American Learning at Prospect High

Students at Prospect High School explored several hands-on learning stations, including a standout demonstration on traditional acorn preparation. Led by community member Shane Noel and his son, the presentation showed the Maidu process of making acorn “mush” — from harvesting and drying to grinding, leaching, and cooking with hot stones in woven baskets.

The demonstration offered students an authentic look at Indigenous food traditions and the cultural knowledge behind this important Maidu practice.

LPO Alliance Band Brings Music to Our Community LPO Alliance Band Brings Music to Our Community

The Las Plumas Oroville High School Alliance Band brought holiday cheer to the community with two festive performances during the past week, showcasing students’ musical talent and school pride.

On Friday, December 5, the Alliance Band hosted its winter concert, “Holidays Around the World,” at the Oroville State Theater. The evening began with a dessert auction, followed by the concert. Families and community members enjoyed a musical journey featuring holidays from around the globe. The beautifully decorated venue and diverse program made for a memorable evening that highlighted the hard work and dedication of the band students.

Continuing the celebration, the Alliance Band participated in the Downtown Oroville Annual Light Parade on Saturday, December 13. Marching through downtown amid festive lights and cheering spectators, students proudly represented Las Plumas and Oroville High School while spreading seasonal joy throughout the community. Their performance added energy and holiday spirit to one of Oroville’s most anticipated annual events.

The Alliance Band’s participation in both events reflects the strong connection between our schools and the community, as well as the commitment of students, families, and staff who support arts education. We are proud of our musicians for their outstanding performances and for representing our school so well during this joyful season.

Honoring Excellence: OUHSD Celebrates 16th Annual Hall of Fame Induction

The Oroville Union High School District (OUHSD) Hall of Fame proudly recognizes graduates, employees, and community contributors who have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements in scholarship, athletics, ASB activities, career accomplishments, community service, and societal contributions.

This permanent honor celebrates individuals whose actions have embodied the District’s vision and values, leaving a lasting impact on the school community and beyond. Hall of Fame members stand as shining examples of the positive influence of Oroville’s high schools, serving as role models who continue to inspire and support current students as they pursue their own goals in academics, athletics, extracurricular activities, and community engagement.

The 16th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was a tremendous success, bringing together alumni, educators, families, and community members to celebrate this year’s inductees. A recurring theme throughout the evening was the deep connection each honoree still feels to Oroville — and the profound influence that teachers, coaches, and community mentors had on their lives.

Their reflections underscored the heart of OUHSD’s mission: that the lessons learned and relationships built within these schools shape lives far beyond graduation. Read more about each inductee here: https://www.ouhsd.org/community/hall-of-fame/hall-of-fame-members
