FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Do you think your child is sweet? We do too, but do you know the signs and symptoms of
diabetes? If you have questions or concerns about your child having diabetes, please take a
moment to review the attached link and reach out to your primary care provider with any
questions.
Important Reminders:
Cold and Flu season is upon us. When your child has symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose,
cough or sore throat, many times an over the counter medication will help them feel more
comfortable during the school day. The best choices are cold medicines that can be given in the
morning before school and last the entire day. Please remember that the school does not have
cold medicine other than cough drops available at school to administer to students.
Students need to be free from vomiting, diarrhea, and have temperatures less than 100.5 F for 24-
hours without the use of fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc. before they
return to school.
If your child requires medication for use at school, a parent-signed physician’s order is required.
** Please schedule a time with the School Nurse to deliver medications and refills. **
The state of Pennsylvania requires 11th Grade Physicals/Immunizations. Please return the
completed physicals to the nurse before January 30, 2026.
Any health forms you may need including medication forms and physicals forms can be found here:
Dates to Remember:

PHYSICAL EDUCATION LOCKS AND LOCKERS:
Any student desiring a lock may acquire one from their Physical Education teacher. This is not mandatory, but is strongly suggested, as the Physical Education teacher is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles. This lock is the responsibility of the student during their time in the High School. The student must pay for the loss of a lock.
Large lockers are to be used only during Physical Education class or sports practices. Locks may not remain on large lockers for any other time period.
Please do not bring large amounts of money or valuables to class.
No personal locks will be permitted on the lockers. If they are found on the lockers, they will be removed.
EXCUSE FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS:
Students who, unfortunately, cannot participate in PE class for any reason MUST see the teacher in the PE office at the beginning of EVERY class prior to leaving the locker room. Alternative learning opportunities will be provided for that class period from the PE office.
A parent’s note is permissible for a one (1) day excuse only. If no note is provided, the student will be sent to the school nurse for assessment and safety precautions.
If a student must be excused for two (2) or more consecutive class periods, a doctor’s note

the original documentation provided.
5. Those students participating in an interscholastic sport are required to participate in Physical
Education class, even on competition or game days.
INJURIES/ILLNESS:
Any injury or illness must be reported to the Physical Education teacher immediately.
If more care needs to be administered, the school nurse will be notified and will proceed in accordance with school policy.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS RULES:
Report to the locker rooms before the late bell. You must be IN the locker room before the bell rings. All non-essential items should be placed in the storage shelves.
No electronic devices in the locker room or class at any time. YOUR privacy is important.
Get dressed and ready to participate in 3 minutes or less from the late bell. Personal belongings should be locked at all times. Use the combination lock provided.
Due to health and safety concerns, sprays and perfumes are prohibited in the locker room.
Follow the rules of the activity. This is necessary for safe and enjoyable play for everyone. Respect others and yourself. Care for the equipment as if it were your own.
Profanity, inappropriate language, or being disrespectful to others is unacceptable.
The teacher will dismiss students from the activity area after all equipment is accounted for. Students are to shower, dress, lock their belongings, and wait for the bell to be dismissed from the locker room.
Students will remain in the locker room until the bell rings.
Students should not sit on the bleachers or be in the gym lobby at any time.
Please do not leave Physical Education clothes in a car. Teachers are unable to grant permission to get them; only the office can.
Be prepared for all types of weather. Be sure to have a change of socks and shoes on inclement days. Think about safety and hygiene at all times.
Keep areas clean. NO food or drink in the locker rooms or activity areas. Do not walk on the gymnasium floor or hallway with dirty, muddy, wet, or improperly soled shoes. Clean off equipment before entering the building.
Report any incidents of bullying, harassment, or disrespect to your teacher immediately. District policy will be followed in all cases.
GRADING CRITERIA:
Unit Grades:
Students will be graded on ACTIVE DAILY PARTICIPATION using the P.E. Grading Rubric. Do your best and communicate with the teacher in class.
Typically, units will be 5 - 6 class periods in length.
Most units will be worth 50 or 100 points.
Students who must be removed from class, at the discretion of the teacher, for any reason, will receive a 10 percent reduction from the final unit grade for each occurrence.
Unit Grade will be lowered by 50% for each unexcused/skipping class.
Missed classes in excess of 3 per marking period must be made up. Failure to do so will result in a grade reduction of 10% per class per unit.
Enthusiastically participating in class and following the course requirements, procedures, and rules is a positive approach to the grading process. All we can do is our best!
Student Self-Assessment:
Students will be given the opportunity to honestly assess their learning opportunities every marking period using the same PE Grading Rubric. This self-assessment will be calculated into the overall grade.
Pass/Fail Grading System:
Students’ grades will be calculated as a numerical grade based on 2 to 4 unit grades per marking period. The yearly average will be calculated using the numerical grade for all four (4) marking periods.
Those grades will be converted to the following LETTER GRADE on the report cards:
PASS = 65% and above
FAIL = 64% and below
If you have a question or problem, feel free to talk to your teacher. Most situations can be resolved this way.

SAFE2SAY
Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.
Here’s how it works:
- Submit an anonymous tip report through the Safe2SaySomething system
- Crisis center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions
- Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
- If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app

CARE SOLACE
988 SUICIDE & CRISIS LIFELINE
988 has been designated as the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is now active across the United States.
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
The Lifeline’s network of over 200 crisis centers has been in operation since 2005, and has been proven to be effective. It’s the counselors at these local crisis centers who answer the contacts the Lifeline receives every day. Numerous studies have shown that callers feel less suicidal, less depressed, less overwhelmed and more hopeful after speaking with a Lifeline counselor.
