Celebrating so much success!

2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade classes played Loteria during language today!

Dear CRES families,

This year, we are celebrating Mr. Dean, Mr. Gene, and Mr. Mike, who together have 98 years of service to Roaring Fork Schools (or more-- our employment records only go back to 1987...). Dean has been at Crystal River (and Carbondale Elementary, now the third street center) for 31 years. It is really hard to imagine CRES without Dean-- he is the true heart of our school, and is leaving some very big shoes to fill! We will miss his morning music, his almost unflappable demeanor, and most importantly, his patience and care for so many students. Dean's last day of work will be May 29th, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.

Mike and Gene, our bus driving brothers, know every inch of Carbondale, Missouri Heights, and 133 by heart. They have gotten so many children to and from school, field trips, and sports games, through road construction, terrible weather, wildfires, and more. We are so grateful for their time and patience in a job that is often thankless. CRES, CMS, and RFHS will be celebrating "Schilling Appreciation Day" next Wednesday, May 20th, in their honor!

Although this letter and survey about elective specials classes at CMS was already sent out by classroom teachers, I'm sending it out again to ensure that all parents have the chance to opt their student into Band and/or Spanish next year. Field Day

Field Day is Tuesday, June 2! We will be looking for parent help with setup, cleanup, and running games-- signup to come next week!

Transportation

In order to enhance accountability, student safety, and communication, our Transportation Department is rolling out a new system for the 2026-27 school year that will require all bus riders to carry a bus pass ID card and scan on and off the bus. Parents will be able to download an app to view the location of their child and the bus. If your child is planning to ride the bus in 2026-27, you will be required to submit a form to request Transportation for your child before school starts. Transportation will be provided from home to school and school to home, based on our existing routes and home addresses in Infinite Campus. Bus passes will be distributed by schools in August. Updating the Office!

If you and your family are planning to move or change schools, please come to the office before June 4th to complete the withdrawal notification form. This process makes it much easier for us to transfer your student's information to their new school!

For families who are NOT moving, please ensure your contact information and mailing address are up to date with us before the office closes on June 4th. We send out information about the new school year during the summer, including the postcard with what class you will be in!
