A Note From the Principal
Dear Fulton Middle and High School Families,
I am excited to introduce our brand-new monthly newsletter, launching in December! This newsletter will be a dedicated space for sharing important updates, celebrating our students' achievements, highlighting upcoming events, and providing valuable information for our school community. Our goal is to keep you informed and engaged as we work together to make this year a successful one for all our students.
As we head into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to wish you and your families a joyful and restful break. π Fulton High School Student of the Month
November
Dakota Malek: Dakota serves as president of the National Honor Society and leads multiple fundraising initiatives through the schoolβs greenhouse. A dedicated athlete, he has earned varsity letters in wrestling, football, and track, and served as captain of the varsity football team. Dakotaβs talents extend beyond the field; he is also the voice behind announcing football, volleyball, baseball, and soon basketball games at Fulton. His commitment to community shines through his volunteer work as a DJ for school events and writing the school newsletter. Dakota plans to continue his education at Central Michigan University. Reflecting on his time at Fulton, Dakota says, βThe best part of Fulton is the family-like atmosphere. In times of struggle, we come together to support each other.β
December
Jeremiah "Jake" Childers Jr.,: Jake is a driven and talented 10th grader with a 4.0 GPA . His dreams include starting his own computer prebuilt company, ChillzzTech, where he creates custom gaming PCs "built with love," and making strides in the nuclear energy sector as a physicist or optimizer. Jake has shown dedication both academically and athletically, improving his skills on the football field and earning a starting position on the offensive line. Reflecting on his time at Fulton, Jake appreciates the growth of the school and the friendly faces he sees in the hallways.

English 11 and MS English
In 6th grade we will be continuing to work on our Response to Literature writing. We are incorporating Tiqa into our writing, and really focusing on the revision part of the writing process. We will also be working on theme, and literary devices in the month of December. Our novel that we will be reading is "On My Honor," which is about making good choices when we are with our friends.
7th Grade ELA: Students are currently focusing on persuasive writing, where they are learning to construct compelling arguments and effectively communicate their viewpoints. They are also reading "A Monster Calls," a powerful novel that explores themes of grief, loss, and the complexities of growing up.
8th Grade ELA: The 8th graders are focused on argumentative writing, specifically examining conspiracy theories. They are learning to craft logical arguments and counterarguments as they read "Winterton Deception," which encourages them to think critically about the information presented and the influence of belief systems.
6th and 7th Grade Science
In 6th grade science, we are diving into the interesting relationship between color, materials, and how they interact with energy from the sun. Students will explore how the color and material of an object affect the amount of radiant energy it absorbs or reflects. This will help them understand how air and water store thermal energy through radiation, and how this energy impacts air movement,
weather systems, and even long-term weather patterns.
In 7th grade science, we will be exploring the fascinating world of ecosystems and the important role they play in our environment. Students will learn that ecosystems are constantly changing and evolving, with their characteristics often shifting over time. Weβll discuss how disruptionsβwhether physical or biologicalβcan affect all populations within an ecosystem, leading to significant changes.
Additionally, we will focus on the concept of biodiversity, which refers to the variety of species found in both land and ocean ecosystems. Students will understand how the health of an ecosystem is often measured by the diversity of life it supports, and why preserving biodiversity is critical for maintaining ecosystem balance.
Student Activities Update
MS Student Council
Middle School Student Council is once again leading our Hoops for Hunger food drive. This event aims to collect non-perishable food items and money to support local families in need, starting December 1st - December 16th. The winning class gets to attend the CMU Basketball game on January 22nd.
HS Student Council
Student council plans to start decorating the high school hall ways for the Christmas season after school on Monday and Tuesday, December 2 & 3. Any high school student is welcome to bring Christmas decorations and lights and to come help decorate their assigned hallway or locker. The week of December 16-20, there will be Christmas themed dress up days. We will be posting the dress up days shortly. In addition to Christmas festivities, student council is actively planning Winterfest. The Winterfest dance is scheduled for February 8 from 7-10 pm.
NHS
In November, NHS sponsored the Donkey Basketball event, where students and staff participated in a fun and exciting basketball game β all while riding donkeys! All proceeds will go toward funding our school store. Additionally, NHS is also sponsoring Coins for A Cause, a coin drive benefiting United Way, through November.
Jr NHS
The National Junior Honor Society is excited to announce a special fundraising initiative this holiday season. We are selling candles to support a family we have adopted for Christmas. Through our partnership with United Way, we have selected a small family to help ensure they have a joyful and memorable Christmas this year. This initiative marks our first service project, and we invite our community to join us in making a difference during this festive season.
E-Sports
E-sports is off to a good start with some wins under our belt! We have been competing every Tuesday and will continue to do so in the coming weeks- then it's playoffs! Also in December we play for a national title against schools in a Smash Bros Tournament. That will be fun and we will see how we measure up.
