Michigan Construction Career Days
Students had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Michigan Construction Career Days, where they had the chance to explore a wide range of careers in the skilled trades. Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive activities, students gained firsthand experience with tools, equipment, and techniques used in the construction industry. This event provided valuable insight into high-demand career pathways and helped students connect their interests to future opportunities in the trades.

School Supplies
📚 CHS School Supply List – 2026–2027 📚
We are sharing our CHS recommended school supply list for the 2026–2027 school year early to give families plenty of time to plan ahead for these purchases.
New next year: we are recommending that students purchase their own calculator. While our Media Center does have calculators available for students who are unable to purchase one, we strongly encourage students to have their own. A personal calculator is a tool students will use throughout high school and into college-level coursework.
We hope sharing this information in advance is helpful as you plan for the upcoming school year. Thank you for your continued support!

FAFSA
The U.S. Department of Education announced that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is officially open!
As always, we appreciate your efforts to encourage as many students as possible to submit the FAFSA form. Remember, we are here to support you along with way. There are a number of resources available on our Web site including the FAFSA Awareness Toolkit.
Last year, FAFSA completion across the state was over 55% and we know that we can increase that number with your help to ensure that Michiganders maximize their aid eligibility. Let’s make this happen together!

Traver Talk
Next Wednesday, May 6, all students will participate in our district’s STAR assessment during their math and English class periods. This assessment is an important tool we use to monitor student growth over time and ensure we are meeting each learner’s individual needs.
The state of Michigan requires districts to use a local assessment measure, and STAR allows us to track progress, identify strengths, and provide targeted support where needed. The results also help guide important decisions around student scheduling and lesson planning.
As we review our winter STAR data, we have identified a number of students who are not yet demonstrating proficiency. However, we also recognize that assessment results can be impacted by effort and focus. We believe many of our students have the ability to show stronger performance, and we are encouraging all students to approach this upcoming assessment with a positive mindset and give their very best effort.
To support this, May 6 will be a designated STAR Test Day. Students will have the full class period to focus solely on the assessment without additional assignments. This structure is intended to reduce pressure and allow students the time they need to do their best work.
We are also working on a student incentive plan that promotes growth and effort while keeping the focus on learning. More information will be shared soon.
We encourage families to support their students by ensuring they are well-rested and ready for the day. A strong effort on this assessment helps provide accurate data, which allows us to better support each student’s academic success.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
