🚗 Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminders
🔁 Drop Off & Pick Up Lane
ALL parents/caregivers must use the designated drop off/pick up lane located on the outside of the student parking lot.
Using other areas to avoid the line creates serious safety concerns. Please allow extra time in the morning and afternoon so you are not rushed.
🚫 Do NOT drop off in:
-
The bus lane
-
The student parking lot
The staff parking lot
We will be monitoring these areas closely.
🚌 Bus Lane & Student Parking = No Parent Drop Off
Over the past two years, families have used the bus lane and student lot to bypass the drop off line.
⚠️ This creates SIGNIFICANT safety risks for students and staff.
Please help us keep everyone safe by using only the designated lane.
♿ Respect Disabled Parking — 24/7
Accessible parking spaces are reserved for individuals with disabilities at all times.
🚫 Do NOT:
-
Park in disabled spaces without authorization
-
Block these spaces while waiting
These actions prevent students and families with disabilities from safely arriving and leaving.
🎫 Ticketing will be enforced.
🅿️ Student Parking Requirements
Students must:
-
Have a current student parking registration
-
Park ONLY in the designated student lot
Students parked in:
-
Staff lots (front of building)
-
Athletic side lots
-
Visitor or staff spaces
will be ticketed.
🚒 Fire Lane — Emergency Use Only
The fire lane behind the school is NOT a shortcut.
🚫 No driving around the building through the fire lane.
📅 Beginning August 26
🕖 Gates will be closed on school days from 7:00am–4:00pm.
🔄 West Side Circle Drive
The circle drive on the west side of the building is RESERVED for specialized transportation only.
When other vehicles use this space for drop off or pick up, it creates a significant safety hazard for students with disabilities who rely on specialized transportation.
Please respect this reserved area.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe and accessible for everyone!

Learning Walks
In the next week, our District will be engaged in Learning Walks across all Sun Prairie schools. On February 18, twenty-seven school and district instructional leaders will visit West classrooms. A Learning Walk is a method used by instructional leader to measure the implementation of the District’s Instructional Framework.
Dear Sun Prairie West High School Students, Parents, and Caregivers,
We are writing to provide an update on the hiring process for the next principal of Sun Prairie West High School. The position will be posted this week, and our goal is to recommend a candidate to the Board of Education this spring.
To identify and select the best candidate, we are designing a multi-round interview process that will take place in the coming weeks.
Your perspective is invaluable in this process. We invite you to complete a brief survey to share your thoughts and provide input into the hiring process. Additionally, the survey includes an option to express interest in joining our interview teams, which are tentatively scheduled for April 3rd and April 7th during school hours. Please note that, depending on the number of interested students, parents, and caregivers, we may be unable to accommodate all who volunteer. Invitations for selected participants will be sent in March. We are also planning for a community session open to all interested during the evening of April 7th.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We appreciate your support as we work together to hire the next leader of Sun Prairie West High School.
Best regards,
Dr. Sarah Chaja-Clardy
Director of Secondary - Teaching, Learning, and Equity
