Temple University Athletics
Update on House v. NCAA Settlement
New Era of Intercollegiate Athletics Begins Today!
July 1, 2025
Dear Owl Nation,
As we prepare for the 2025–26 academic year, I want to thank you for your continued support of Temple Athletics. While we are striving for competitive success in competition, I’m proud of what our student-athletes have accomplished in the classroom and in the community. Your support has played and will continue to play a vital role in their success.
With the July 1 approval of the House v. NCAA settlement, a new era of intercollegiate athletics begins. For the first time, we can provide direct support to our student-athletes through institutional Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities. While we have been waiting for this landmark settlement, our athletic leadership has been working diligently with campus partners to position us for success in this new era, while continuing to deliver successful outcomes in the classroom.
In order to compete with our peers in the American and other conferences where our programs compete, we must retain and recruit student-athletes who can help our coaches build rosters capable of consistently competing for championships—and earning opportunities to play in bowl games and NCAA postseason tournaments. These opportunities begin with winning conference championships. That is our most direct pathway to the national stage, and it must be our collective focus.
To help us compete at the highest level, earlier this spring, we partnered with Institutional Advancement to launch Competitive Excellence Fund (CEF) accounts for each program. These funds allow donors to support their favorite teams directly through the University, with full giving credit and Owl Club benefits.
Your gift fuels our mission - to retain and recruit top talent, compete for championships, and create memorable experiences on and off the field.

Beyond financial support, your presence at games - whether ticketed or non-ticketed - makes a real difference. Your energy inspires our teams and strengthens our Temple community.
