BEARS

Dear MLB Families,

We have had such a great six days of school! Thank you students, families, and staff for keeping arrival and dismissal times working smoothly and being patient as we overcome some of the obstacles of opening a new school. Students have been focusing on reviewing the BEARS expectations and have already modeled their understanding of these expectations. (B-Be Kind, E-Engaged, A-Achieve Goals, R-Respect, S-Safe) We are very proud of them as they make Marcella LeBeau Elementary a welcoming community to be part of!

Thank you!

Patrick Purdy

Marcella LeBeau Elementary Principal

School Day

Our school day is from 8am to 2:45pm. If any student arrives after 8am, they need to check in with the office. The office is located at Door "A", the south side of our school building. You will need to press the button inside of the school before Courtney or a staff member buzz you in. Your child will receive a slip to take to their teacher and we ask that you sign the clipboard stating when your child arrived and why they were late. That same process goes for if you plan to pickup your child early from school.

Lunch times will be changing a little bit to accommodate our growing number of students. Kindergarten and first grade will eat from 11:05-11:30. Second and third grade will eat from 11:35-12:00. Fourth and fifth grade will eat from 12:05-12:30.

Thank you for your understanding!

Busing

Thank you for your continued patience as we get the busing situation all sorted out. I need to acknowledge Courtney our secretary who has been handling all those needs and getting that information communicated to you as quickly as she can. If you have any questions about busing you can contact SBI or just continue to reach out to Courtney and she'll do what she can to help!

Also, for those students interested in band that ride the bus, you are not allowed to take your instrument on the bus with you. That will need to be arranged to be picked up by a parent/guardian.

Arrival

Playground supervision and breakfast begin at 7:40 a.m. If students are dropped off before 7:40 they may wait in the entryway of Door A until the staff send them onto the playground or they may wait outside the fence until a staff member opens the gates. Now that we’re in the swing of the school year, we ask that parents wait outside the playground gates as students walk in on their own. Thank you for helping foster independence and keeping arrival smooth and safe!

Students arriving for breakfast may enter through door A if they're dropped off. If they need breakfast coming in from the bus they may enter straight in to have breakfast. The 2nd-5th graders head to the playground and line up to be sent into their classrooms for our soft start to the school day.

Dismissal

Dismissal for MLB is 2:40pm for our kindergartners and first graders. They will head out the playground doors for parent pickup. They will head out door H for bus pickup. Second through fifth graders will dismiss at 2:45pm. Fourth and Fifth graders are able to walk out Door A for parent pickup.

PTO

Marcella LeBeau now has a PTO to help provide opportunities and activities for the students and teachers throughout the school year. We're very fortunate to have all the parents and guardians who take time to volunteer and donate to this organization. We had a great turnout at our first meeting on Tuesday and we decided upon our board members. President - Kristal Shoffeitt, Vice President - Megan Miller, Secretary - Ashley Winterton, and Treasurer - Alexa Maud! Our next meeting will be on September 8 in the MLB commons (cafeteria) at 6pm. All parents/guardians are welcome and we will discuss for sure a fundraiser and other important dates and activities.
