Happy Friday, Families!

What a magical week it’s been! We celebrated an incredible Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week, and thanks to our amazing Working for Kids group and all of YOU, Kegonsa was transformed into the Land of Oz! Each hallway was filled with color, creativity, and care as we embraced the theme of The Wizard of Oz.

Throughout the week, our staff enjoyed a little friendly competition as we split into four teams—Tinman, Dorothy, Lion, and Scarecrow. After a week of fun challenges and close calls, Team Lion came out on top and took home the crown!

We also had a blast with Nancy Planter, a talented window painter who joined forces with our art teacher to bring an afternoon of window painting fun to our school. Students loved getting creative and helping to brighten up our space.

Looking ahead, we’d love to see you at our monthly Working for Kids meeting next Tuesday at 6:15 PM. It’s a great way to stay connected and involved in all the good things happening here at Kegonsa.

Enjoy the beautiful spring weather, and to all the moms, mother figures, and caregivers—Happy Mother’s Day! We appreciate you today and every day.💙 Erin

We’re gearing up for one of the most exciting days of the year—Kegonsa Field Day! This fun-filled event will take place on June 6th, and we’d love for our families to be a part of the action.

There are two separate volunteer sign-ups: one for Grades K–2 and another for Grades 3–5. We’re looking for volunteers to help run activity stations while cheering on students to help make this day unforgettable. No experience needed—just bring your energy and enthusiasm as all instructions will be provided by school staff!

As a bonus, our Family Picnic will also take place on Field Day, so it’s a perfect opportunity to spend some time at school and enjoy the day with your child. More information on the Family Picnic is coming soon!

Dear Kegonsa Families,

It’s hard to believe how quickly the school year is flying by—it truly feels like it has gone by in the blink of an eye!

In April, we continued to build a culture of inclusion and awareness in the Kegonsa Library Media Center by recognizing Autism Awareness Month and Arab-American Heritage Month. Through books, conversations, and digital resources, we celebrated the unique contributions of Arab Americans and worked to deepen students’ understanding and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum.

As we step into May, we are excited to highlight Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and National Speech-Language-Hearing Month. These recognitions give us a chance to celebrate diverse voices, cultural identities, and the important work of speech-language professionals who support student communication and learning.

Over the past few weeks, students have enjoyed diving into our e-library resources like BookFlix, ScienceFlix, PebbleGo Next, TrueFlix, and World Book Kids to support research and independent exploration. We also had fun incorporating Dash robots into our library classes—students worked on coding basics while building critical thinking and teamwork skills!

Thank you for your continued support and for encouraging your child’s curiosity and love of learning. As we approach the end of the school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or thoughts.
