CELC News & Updates

Hello Creekside Families,

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable weekend. The weather was amazing! My husband and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe how fast the time has flown by!

Thank you for your continued support with the drop off procedures. We are looking forward to a great week. Please send your student in their favorite shirt and biggest smile on Tuesday. It is Spring Picture Day.

We are in the midst of actively planning for the 2021-2022 school year. The District is excited to be planning for a full return. As you can imagine, fluctuations in enrollment can impact staffing. We are asking each family to fill out our SURVEY by Friday, April 16th. Please fill out a new survey for each of your students. The data we collect is vital to our planning process. If you have students in other schools, please make sure you fill out the survey for them as well. PLEASE SEE CELC's LINK BELOW.

OTHER EXCITING NEWS: With new guidelines out regarding promotions/celebrations, the District is looking at in-person options for promotion ceremonies across AUSD. Of course, there will be strict protocols and limited numbers of people in attendance but we are hopeful that it will be more "normal" than it was last year.

Weekly Reminders and Updates:

  • PTA needs your support. Please consider purchasing a PTA membership. They also have CELC t-shirts available for purchase.
  • Virtual First Grade Orientations are coming soon. Mark your calendars! Both BOES and SHES are hosting their orientations on April 22. SHES's will be at 2:15 pm and BOES's will be at 3:00 pm.
  • Ms. Ludden, our newest CELC teacher, began working with small groups of students last week. They had a blast! I am pretty sure that I saw Ms. Ludden wearing a sight word on her forehead all week :).
  • Please report all absences to the office. We are required to trace all absences. Illnesses may require an extended stay at home.
  • AUSD continues to serve food during our 4-Day Schedule on Mondays from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at JMMS. If that time doesn't work for you, there is also a 5:00 pm pick up.
  • Child Nutrition Services offers snack pick up for students at CELC during pick up times on Mondays. The grab and go snack bag will contain 5 days worth of snacks. This is available to all students 18 and under.
  • Join us for VIRTUAL FUN FRIDAYS. See the flyer below for April's schedule. Post pictures using #virtualfunfriday
  • The district is still providing free wifi access at CELC, SHES, JMMS, and BOES. Just park in the lot and log in. The wifi name is AlpineUnited and no password is needed.
  • The district has tech support available to parents. Please email helpdesk@alpineschools.net with your technology questions.

Don't forget to wear your college shirt tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ripke

Phase Three AM Drop Off

Please review the morning drop off procedures:

For the safety of students, parents, and staff, drop off procedures are changing for Phase Three. Parents will no longer be able to enter campus in the morning (with the exception of preschool: rooms 1 and 2, and ESS prior to 8:30 am). Please review the map and written directions prior to March 15, 2021. PLEASE also share it with any other family members or friends that share in the responsibility of dropping your student off.

Please note that no changes have been made to drop off times and assigned gates. There are also no changes to pick up times, assigned gates, or procedures. However, please make sure you continue to maintain social distance and only have one adult on campus per student. We plan to continue to use this schedule the remainder of the year.

  • Families have two choices at drop off:

    • Pull up and drop off curbside at designated time/area

    • Park in the upper lot and walk your student to their gate

  • Staff members will be out front welcoming and assisting students

  • Additional staff will be placed on campus between the gate and the classrooms to assist/direct students as needed

  • There is NO PARKING on the curb in the morning

  • Parent parking in the upper lot ONLY

  • Lower lot is open to disabled students/parents ONLY

  • Drive carefully and slowly move forward and watch for pedestrians

  • Pull forward and DO NOT merge out and pass the car line- wait patiently for the line to move forward, even if your child has already been dropped off
  • Staggered times and gate assignments remain the same. Please ensure that you are arriving within the window and PLEASE do not get in the drop off line prior to your designated time. If you are early, you will be asked to pull forward and either park on the upper parking level and wait, or get back in line. Reminder of times and gates:

    • Dual Language (DL) Kindergarten: 8:30 am to 8:40 am at the front gate

    • English Only (EO) Kindergarten (Rooms 11 and 12): 8:40 am to 8:50 am at the rolling gate

    • EO TK and DL TK (Rooms 13 and 14): 8:50 am to 9:00 am at the rolling gate

    • MVLA (Room 6): Beginning at 8:50 am at the front gate

    • EAK (Room 3): 9:00 am to 9:10 am at the front gate

  • DL Kindergarten cars will pull up into "spots" 1-9 and move forward. CELC staff will help direct families to release at spaces 1, 2, 3, and 4. Cars will continue to move forward and only release in designated areas.

  • EO Kindergarten cars will pull up into "spots" 4-9 and move forward. CELC staff will help direct families to release at spaces 4, 5, 6, 7, and maybe 8. Cars will continue to move forward and only release in designated areas.

  • EO TK and DL TK cars will pull up into spots 1-9 and move forward. CELC staff will help direct families to release at spaces 1, 2, 3, and 4. Cars will continue to move forward and only release in designated areas.

  • EAK cars will pull up into spots 1-9 and move forward. CELC staff will help direct families to release at spaces 1, 2, 3, and 4. Cars will continue to move forward and only release in designated areas.

  • MLVA cars will pull up into spots 1-9 and move forward. CELC staff will help direct families to release at spaces 1, 2, 3, and 4. Cars will continue to move forward and only release in designated areas.

Thank for your support with the implementation of the new drop off procedures. It went very well the first week we implemented it! Thank you for helping to keep us all safe and open for in-person learning!

Active April Calendar

"Exercise should be regarded as a tribute to the heart."

Action for Happiness calendars are packed with actions you can take to help create a happier and kinder world. Take a look at the April Calendar. Keeping active is a great way to boost our mental wellbeing. So this month Action for Happiness is encouraging everyone to get moving and get outdoors as much as possible. Whatever your circumstances or physical limitations, you can find your own ways to be a bit more active. We don't need to run marathons - there are simple things we can all do to take care of our bodies, like unplugging from technology, reconnecting with nature and getting more sleep! Join CELC in staying active and healthy this month!
