Social Emotional Screener the week of September 29th
Prairie Grove Elementary has a system of social-emotional support linked directly to the assessed needs of our students. This system is part of our Multi-Tier System of Supports, (MTSS) and is based upon the results of universal screening tools. The use of universal screening refines and strengthens our efforts to help all our students be successful by allowing us to take a positive and preventive measure as soon as possible.
Our Kindergarten through eighth grade teachers will be completing an SEL screener for all students. Students in grade 3-8 will take a personal screener as well. This will occur the week of September 29th. The results of the tool will be used to provide identified students with mentoring, social skill building and other supports to help them engage positively in learning. As with our academic universal screenings, you will be notified if your student is selected for participation in an intervention program.
Thank you for your willingness to assist Prairie Grove in building a system of student support that is linked directly to data. This will ensure that each of our students has the opportunity to receive the assistance they need to achieve academic and social-emotional success. Please do not hesitate to contact our school administrators or counselors with any questions.

Staff Member Spotlight
Mallory Morse - 1st Grade
My family includes my husband Connor, our 3 year old son Ollie, and our beloved pug Peaches.
What is something that makes you really proud?
Something that makes me really proud is hearing former students share their successes in subsequent years, and hearing their happy memories from first grade. Also, when my son uses good manners and makes others smile :).
What is your favorite hobby?
My family and students would say my favorite hobby is shopping (guilty) but I also love collecting picture books and attempting to bake- or really just watching reruns of The Great British Baking Show.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is chicken tenders- because I’m still 6 at heart.
What is something you have learned lately?
Something I have learned lately is how to “deadhead” roses bushes to encourage new blooms to grow- though my gardening skills remain very aspirational.
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
If I were an animal, I would probably choose a whale shark, because I think they are beautiful, and because Ollie loves sharks.
What is your favorite thing about PG?
Kristin Nieves- 6th Grade Team Leader
1. Tell us about your family.
I grew up in Rolling Meadows with my mom, dad, and younger brother. We spent a lot of time in Wisconsin boating, swimming, and ATVing growing up. My husband and I have been married a little over a year and have been together for 3 years in October.
2. What is something that makes you really proud?
I am always very proud of my students.
3. What is your favorite hobby?
I love to read and spend time with my family. I also really enjoy diy projects around the house as long as they are not too complicated.
4. What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is pizza.
5. What is something you have learned lately?
I am always learning something new but am currently trying to learn Spanish so I can talk to my husband’s family.
6. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I would be a polar bear. They have always been my favorite animal and I think they are
beautiful.
7. What is your favorite thing about PG?
My favorite thing about PG is the people. I love the students and staff. Everyone is kind and truly cares about each other.
