Join us on Friday morning for donuts on the playground! This is the twice-a-year chance for you to join your kiddo(s) on the playground before school, eat a donut, take a photo with Percy the Patriot, and be a part of our community. Please park off campus and walk through the gate on the kindergarten side of the campus. Gate opens at 8am. See you there!
Our School Community
I’ve been reflecting recently on our IB Learner Profile—particularly the traits of being open-minded, caring, and a risk-taker. As a community, we do a wonderful job helping young people understand who they are, what they stand for, and how to value themselves as individuals. This is something to be proud of.
At the same time, an area of growth for many students is learning to look outward—understanding where they fit within the larger global community. I often speak with young adults who have returned from experiences in other countries, and they frequently share how those moments shifted their perspectives on the world and the people in it.
The good news is that we don’t have to travel abroad to gain these kinds of perspective-changing experiences. We can create them right here, every day. It starts by teaching our children to step outside their comfort zones—to take small social risks. Encourage them to talk with someone outside their usual circle. Help them practice reaching out to peers who may look different, come from different backgrounds, or even speak a different language.
Perhaps most importantly, we can teach them to notice when someone is alone or struggling—and to respond with kindness. Knowing how to be a friend, how to offer comfort, and how to include others are powerful life skills.
We are fortunate to have such an incredible group of students at Providence Hall. Together, let’s continue to nurture not only their sense of self, but also their compassion and connection to others—so they grow into thoughtful, empathetic, and engaged adults.
