PREPARES Community Baby Shower
Our first Parish Family 34 Community Baby Shower was a success! Five couples and their families enjoyed a delicious meal, played some fun baby shower games, and were truly moved by your generosity when the gifts were brought out to them. Father Cal gave a beautiful talk to the families on the dignity of life and blessed each mother. An additional mother, who was on bed rest, will also receive gifts you provided.
Thank you to all who donated gifts or volunteered their time. For more information about getting involved with PREPARES, contact Morningstar in the parish office.
What is PREPARES? PREPARES is a volunteer-run program offering meaningful, local, and unconditional support to mothers, fathers, and families as they nurture their children through pregnancy and early childhood. Services are available for families from pregnancy to a child’s fifth birthday. All families are welcome, regardless of their background.
Journey of Faith (OCIA) - Sponsors needed
Our Journey of Faith ministry is well under way. This year we have more than 60 people seeking sacraments of initiation and many of them need sponsors. Being a sponsor is a powerful way to put into practice our call to evangelize and to accompany others on their walk with Christ. Here's what one of our past sponsors, Pete Lake, had to say about it.
How did being a sponsor strengthen your faith or bring you closer to God?
There are thousands of things you can do on a Sunday morning that are more fun, entertaining, or relaxing than going through the process of OCIA and learning to be Catholic. Yet, this group of people showed up every Sunday and put in the time to learn about our faith and take a step closer to becoming a disciple of Christ. I am inspired by their journey and the stories of conversion they shared. They help me believe the Holy Spirit is actively working in our lives.
What were the fruits of the relationship you had with your candidate?
The candidate I sponsored last year was a shy young man. I believe it took a lot of courage for him to go through the steps of OCIA, especially the more public steps like Baptism. I was inspired by his courage and was honored to stand next to him and support him. This young man had studied church history and I also looked forward to our discussions about faith and the different traditions we have as Catholics. He was enthusiastic about these topics, which is not common with my current circle of friends.
Are you interested in sharing your faith? Plan to attend our information meeting on Sunday, October 26 at 1:30 pm in the parish center.

Help Families in Gaza
“We pray that the ceasefire in Gaza holds. When increased aid can enter, we can deliver. We have teams, offices, warehouses and distribution points—and are further expanding our capacity on the ground to respond. Our supply pipelines, thanks to our long standing partnerships, in Jordan and Egypt are stocked and ready. With decades of trusted presence in the region, CRS continues to serve people with courage and compassion in Gaza— alongside local communities, the Catholic Church and partners. Since October 2023, we’ve reached 1.8 million people—and we’re ready to do more."
—Jason Knapp, CRS country representative, Jerusalem, West Bank and Gaza
