2025-2026 Calendar: Committed to the 4-Day Week 2025-2026 Calendar: Committed to the 4-Day Week

The 2025-2026 school calendar has been approved by the board. Due to changes the state has made for districts using a 4-day week calendar, we’ve made adjustments to our upcoming calendar. The revised calendar includes 150 student days, which is three more than the 2024-25 calendar. Additionally, the calendar includes an extra five minutes per school day compared to the current year. These adjustments allow us to maintain our 4-day school week and meet the state’s new requirements. Click here to view next year’s school calendar.

LifeHabits: How to Prep Mentally and Physically for Testing Day LifeHabits: How to Prep Mentally and Physically for Testing Day

The months of April and May are packed with testing dates, including STAAR, AP, EOC and final exams. To help your student feel confident and prepared, here are a few simple habits that can make a big difference on test day.

  • Rest and Eat Well
If we are self-aware, we know that our body needs both rest and nutrition to fuel us well. Going to bed at a reasonable hour ensures your student is well-rested and ready to focus. And, fueling the brain is just as important as fueling the body. A balanced breakfast with protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs can help students stay alert and energized throughout the test.

  • Prepare the Night Before
Encourage students to be self-managed and pack their backpack, pick out clothes, and set an alarm ahead of time. A smooth morning routine helps reduce stress and allows them to arrive at school on time and ready to go.

  • Keep It in Perspective
While tests can feel overwhelming, maintaining a global perspective helps students remember that exams are just one snapshot of their learning journey. True success is reflected in their growth, effort, and resilience, not just a single score. A calm, confident mindset can go a long way on testing day.

College Readiness for Juniors College Readiness for Juniors

As Life School seniors cross the graduation stage, it’s an ideal reminder that the journey to college starts now for our juniors. With many college applications opening on August 1st, this summer is an excellent opportunity to get a jump-start. Use this time to boost your SAT/ACT scores, craft a standout college essay, and research and tour the colleges that seem like the right fit.

The Legislative Session is in Session The Legislative Session is in Session

Although the Legislative Session began in January, much of the important work still lies ahead. Many key bills that could impact charter schools have yet to be heard. Additional facilities funding is a critical component of several education funding bills currently awaiting votes in both the House and Senate. If you’d like to get involved in the advocacy process by contacting your lawmakers about important legislation, be sure to sign up for updates from the Texas Public Charter Schools Association.
