The Brandywine School District now has a monthly newsletter to keep families informed about what they can do to support their students as they plan for their future after high school.

BSD helps students to go to college, join the military, complete a training program/trade school, or get a job following high school. We want students to learn about their options and choose the path that is best for them.

Grade-level information sessions for students and families were held in September to discuss what students and families should do at each grade level to best prepare for their future.

We had a separate Class of 2027 event at each high school for our Seniors. Then we hosted two District-wide events: one for our Class of 2028 11th graders and the other for our Class of 2029 & 2030 9th and 10th graders.

We also hosted an expert from StandByMe Delaware to speak about Paying for College & Scholarships.

If you were unable to attend these events in-person or join us over Zoom, the slides and recordings of the presentations are all now posted on the BSD website by clicking on the Planning Your Future box.

Every year, Brandywine School District has a Launch Into Your Future Week at each high school during the month of October.

During this week, counselors make themselves available in a common area of the building specifically to help Seniors complete applications, fill out financial aid documents, create resumes, explore career options, or do other tasks necessary for their future plans.

There will also be presentations and workshops so students can explore careers in the military and take the ASVAB, learn about apprenticeship programs and jobs in the trades, create resumes, hear from admissions officers from specific colleges, and more!

Students should get approval to attend in advance from their classroom teacher and sign up in SCOIR.

Launch Into Your Future Weeks:

  • Concord High School- Oct 12-16
  • Brandywine High School- Oct 19-22
  • Mount Pleasant High School- Oct 26-30

What is SCOIR? What is SCOIR?

SCOIR is the platform Brandywine School District uses to help students plan for their life after high school. Each student has access to SCOIR through Classlink on their school-issued Chromebook. From SCOIR, students can sign up for events and presentations hosted at the school, complete career interest assessments, and explore careers and colleges. As Seniors, they will submit their final plans on SCOIR when they have made their decision.

Parents and guardians can get their own SCOIR account that is linked to their student's account. Students can "Invite" their trusted adults on their SCOIR profile page by entering their name and email address. Parent SCOIR accounts can be used to see the events calendar, access the college and career discovery tools, and even suggest particular colleges to their student.

Check out THIS LIST. Students in AVID or who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch can request a fee waiver in SCOIR and on Common App.
