ART

Greetings! We are currently finishing up our second drawing project of the grading period in art class. Following completion of this art project, we will take a class picture with their original artworks that will be sent out through Class Dojo. This artwork will then be displayed around the campus for our community to enjoy! Displaying student work is always a highlight of teaching art!! Sketchbook creation will follow as I plan on adding Kinder and 1st graders to the sketchbook process this school year. Student created sketchbooks will be used as our "learning journal", where all planning sketches, art vocabulary and goal-setting activities will be organized. All art projects, including sketchbooks, will be taken home at the end of the school year in an art portfolio.

STEM

October is cybersecurity month so we will continue to explore digital citizenship.

Kinder/First grade will practice balancing time online/offline, being safe and respectful online, and identifying just right sites to visit.

Second/Third grades will learn the difference between private and personal information, how to create a strong password, and understanding our digital footprint.

Fourth/Fifth grades will learn strategies to avoid clickbait, how to decipher the difference of real or fake news, and how to be an upstander when noticing a cyberbully.

Additionally, students will practice keyboarding to become more proficient with keyboard knowledge. Finally, we will round out the month with some spooky STEM challenges to incorporate the Engineer Design Process.
