Week 31
Dear MUMS community,
We are so grateful to see the sunshine this morning as we speed our way through our first full week of May!
I want to start by thanking the families who came out to support our student performers at our Arts Exhibition, Band and Choir concert on Wednesday night. It was a full and busy night and only made possible through your support.
Lastly, we want to thank you for the pivots that you continue to make with respect to the transportation challenges we've experienced over the last few months. We recognize how challenging this dynamic is and we are actively working with Betcha Transit to address these gaps we've experienced.
We appreciate your continued support and hope that you have a great weekend!
Best,
Michaela Wisell ~ Principal

Greetings MUMS Caregivers!
“Cheer, Cheer, The Green Mountaineer!”
-Ballad of the Green Mountain Boys
What a fantastic day our 6th graders had at Fort Ticonderoga last week! In 6th grade I&S, our students have been learning the local and national history of the revolutionary war in a unit called “Creating America”. All 6th graders got an experiential and hands-on lesson last week with various workshops at the Fort! We learned about the soldiers who stayed there, and what supplies they needed. We had small group workshops on ropemaking and rope tying, leatherworking and shoemaking, woodworking and building, and sewing clothing. We were also marched around a field in formation by a “Sargeant” who taught us marching maneuvers used by the Green Mountain Boys. Check out our instagram for more photos! Special thanks to our donors: ACEF, the American Battlefield Trust, and Neat Repeats. Thanks to all our chaperones and also to Ms Cosgrove for all of her hard work putting this experience together!
💡Talk to your student: What are they learning about in I&S? Why is understanding the past important? How do the changes from during the revolutionary period shape our country and culture today?

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Month!
Help us celebrate our Teachers & Staff all month!
1. Share an Appreciation: It's Teacher & Staff Appreciation Month at ACSD. Help us celebrate them by sharing a shout-out or appreciation with this form (by May 31, 2026).
2. Make a Nomination: Help us nominate the next Teacher or Staff of the Year. Each year in August, we recognize an Elementary and Secondary Teacher with our Annual Outstanding Teacher of the Year, and staff with the Barbara Whittemore Support Staff Award. Fill out this form by May 31st 2026 to help us nominate someone.
Student Absences, Dismissals + Bus Notes
If your student will be absent from school, needs an early dismissal, or will take a different bus, please follow these directions:
- Absence / early dismissal: Call 802-382-1297, the MUMS attendance line, before 8:30am (helpful tip: add this number to your phone now as "MUMS attendance line")
- Early dismissal + bus notes: Students must deliver a caregiver's note to the front office when arriving at school (before TA).
- If taking a bus other than their regular bus: Students must bring a caregiver's note and have it signed by a MUMS Administrative Assistant in the front office to be valid.
Shoreham/Cornwall bus caveats
Please use the "button" above to preview our ACSD bus routes.
Also please note a few caveats that impact students who ride Cornwall or Shoreham buses home.
Cornwall and Shoreham buses do not come to MUMS at pick-up time. Students who ride those buses must take a shuttle from MUMS to MUHS to meet their bus.
Cornwall students use the Bridport bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Cornwall bus at the High school to ride home.
Shoreham students use the Weybridge bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Shoreham bus at the High school to ride home.
