We have a partnership with the school district and contribute gift baskets to D64 families around the holidays (along with tons of other things). The Daily Recess Soccer Game

Our school-wide game (mostly 2nd-5th) ends up with about 30-40 students playing and facilitating on their own. They hate rain and when we have to close the field.

Give a Staff Member a Green Slip

At Carpenter, we believe in reinforcing expectations, for going above and beyond, and finding opportunities to support others. As you are aware, we have a school-wide system of students earning "Green Slips." (Green Slips started years ago and used to be on paper, green paper, so the name just kind of stuck). It is an intermittent reinforcement system, very much in the style of "catch 'em being good." Those who earn green slips eventually get placed onto our school-wide Bingo Board for a chance to be 1/10 students who get Bingo and earn a book out of the vending machine (thank you PTO and those who support the PTO!). Recently, we've also provided our substitutes the ability to reinforce an entire classroom for helping and continuing to meet expectations while teachers are away. At the end of the week, any classroom that earned a substitute green slip, their names get entered into a drawing to also potentially earn a book. So, we've added another piece to our system. In the event you ever have to come to the office, in the vestibule, you have the opportunity to have a staff member earn a green slip. Nothing fancy, just a quick recognition of something a staff member may have done recently or during the year that you appreciated.

NO LONGER COLLECTING PLASTIC BAGS! THANK YOU!

The Carpenter Green Team would like to thank everyone who contributed to the plastic bag collection. It was a HUGE Success. Maine South has met their goal of 500 pounds! They will be using the plastic to build a bench. While we know it's not possible to eliminate all plastic from our daily lives, many of the bags collected could be swapped out for reusables such as grocery, produce, and ziplock bags. Next time you head to the store consider bringing your own bag and using reusable containers instead of ziplocks.

Register

Your registration is not considered final until it has been reviewed by District 64 staff. You will receive a separate email confirmation once your registration has been approved. If anything is incomplete, someone from the District will contact you with further information. If you have any questions or need further assistance about enrollment, please contact your school office.

CoVid Communicating

This year, instead of sending out an email for CoVid cases, we will be updating a slide on our website. Please bookmark this page if interested in keeping tabs of our current cases and associated homerooms. I'll leave this in my weekly updates as well, but I'll gradually move this towards the bottom of the reading material.
